Gran Caffè Napoli 1850 — Restaurant in Castellammare di Stabia

Oh my god I can't believe I waited 5 days before I went into this fantastic coffee and pastry place. Cafe latte is 1.50 and the fancy pastries are 3.50 and very much worth it. The owner manager Tony (Antonio) was so cool, sweet & funny. Giovanni and John (Giovanni#2) were very entertaining. Tony put on some classic Italian music to give me an authentic Italian experience. Johnny was dancing around and singing along with the music. Giovanni and Johnny were grabbing the waitresses and dancing around with them, poor things to trying to get ready for dinner, but everybody was all smiles. Johnny & Tony spoke excellent English, and maybe Giovanni did, too, but I really didn't get much of a chance to talk with him. My coffee was excellent and my walnut pastry tasted like pecan pie. SO good. Selection and quality of the sweets is excellent. Just remember that if you eat it at a table, there will be a cover charge. Also, they can be crowded in the morning so keep that in mind when you are planning. That's the reason why I didn't go when I first got here. It was very crowded and I didn't want to hold everyone up with my insufficient Italian. Now I'm sorry I waited so long.

I can honestly tell you I have been to Amalfi and I would go back to Castellamare before I would ever go back there. This is a real Italian town with really cool people when you get the chance...

Not without a reason this place has a long traditional history - the Pastry is excellent, as is their Espresso. The personell behind the Bar is very friendly, fast in Service and competent in all their doings - the serving Personell, that caters the guests at the tables could be a bit more motivated, friendly and faster - but, the place, the quality of their Coffee and Pastry compensates this small "minus". One can also take away some of their Sweets and Pastry - what we did, actually - and by doing so, we had a nice, tasty "re-memorial" on the following day - their Lime Pastry (small tortellets) are superb! La mia esperienza in questo locale è stata decisamente negativa, tanto da sentire la necessità di condividerla per mettere in guardia chiunque stia pensando di visitarlo.

A cominciare dal personale, l’impressione è stata quella di un team completamente inadatto al lavoro con il pubblico. Ogni membro dello staff, senza eccezioni, si è dimostrato freddo, scostante e poco disponibile, caratteristiche che rendono l’ambiente tutt'altro che accogliente. L’assenza di cortesia è palpabile, e persino la persona alla cassa si è limitata a svolgere il proprio compito meccanicamente, senza guardare il cliente negli occhi né salutare.

Questo atteggiamento lascia trasparire un totale disinteresse per il cliente, che si sente trattato come un numero anziché come una persona.

La disorganizzazione è evidente fin dai dettagli. I menu sono malridotti, rotti e visibilmente consumati, un aspetto che contribuisce a trasmettere un senso di trascuratezza generale. La mancanza di cura per l'esperienza complessiva del cliente appare evidente, lasciando la sensazione di trovarsi in un luogo dove l'approssimazione regna sovrana.

Per quanto riguarda i dolci, sebbene l’impasto possa essere considerato buono, il ripieno lascia molto a desiderare. Le creme utilizzate sembrano essere di qualità mediocre e di tipo industriale, un elemento che contrasta fortemente con le aspettative di chi cerca prodotti artigianali o almeno preparati con una certa attenzione.

In definitiva, la sensazione predominante è quella di un’attività che sembra interessata esclusivamente al profitto, senza investire nella qualità del servizio o dei prodotti offerti. Per tutti questi motivi, non mi sento assolutamente di raccomandare questo posto a nessuno.
