Ristorante e camere Porticciolo del Campanello — Restaurant in Castelnuovo del Garda

We came here tuesday evening for dinner. Directly upon arriving we were ignored when wanting to ask for a table so we asked the barlady. She said only her colleagues know about the tables, but then we stood there a few minutes with her colleagues rushing by and ignoring us. So after a while we asked if we could just sit down then (inside was plenty of place) on which we got sort of an approval. After a few minutes one of the waitresses gave us knifes/forks and the card without a word. After deciding we sat for 15 minutes before anyone finally came to take our order. When putting down the courses this was done without any word and with lightning speed. The main course of my girlfriend came (tortellini) and only 10 minutes later came my course (lasagna). By then my girlfriend had already finished her meal. No word of apology or anything for serving my meal late, again just ‘bam’ putting it on the table.

The food was fine, clearly the cook knows what he’s doing. But the service was the worst we have seen so far here in Italy. The waitresses clearly didn’t want to be there this evening and no information or apologies were given about serving my meal 10 minutes later. I’ve read a lot of positive comments about lunch, maybe that’s a different staff then?

I would advise the staff to focus more on service, because going out for dinner is not only for the food, but also for the service and having a nice and wonderful evening. Having bad service will eventually lead to less customers as more and more people go by reviews. Treat your customers nicely and have some passion for your work even though it’s busy or late or when you are tired.

Edit after the reaction of the owner; I've seen you being rude to all people that write a negative review. Always complaining about how busy it is and how all customers are rude and should understand how hard your work is. This is not the way to promote your restaurant. You should visit some restaurant with a good service and see how you can improve things. Try to do something with criticism instead of being rude. Also some humbleness and an open mind...

Was really hoping this place would live up to the reviews but sadly not. Amazing location but they massively trade on that as the food was hugely disappointing. We had one pizza arrive 30 minutes before any other food. Carbonara had chunks of egg white in it and wasn't really edible, and it was another 10 minutes after the carbonara that the final dish arrived. Plus the sneaky 2.50 euro per person extra charge added on at the end (and that was as well as a 10% service charge!) Beautiful view, below par food. Disappointing first meal out for our family holiday. A real shame as the location...

The inn is run by a very nice family. It's located literally on the lake . the family also have a very good restaurant on the ground floor. I have'nt seen so many pizzas in one menu my whole life !!||Their daughter speak english well, and she recommended us good places to visit. Thanks to her advice, our trip became so much better !! the room was big, very clean, wifi very good, the view ti the lake is amazing. there are cute ducks walking...
