Lido Zabbara — Restaurant in Castelvetrano

My mother, husband and I were planning to eat lunch here but decided not to after being treated extremely rudely by a member of staff. We arrived and decided to sunbathe first and laid on some sun beds in front of the restaurant expecting to pay the attendant when he showed up. An insolent youth appeared ten minutes later and chastised us for lying down without paying first. The way he spoke to me and my elderly mother was disgusting and I couldn’t believe his attitude towards women. He told us we owed €25 for the two beds (my husband was laid next to us on the sand). I had 2 x €20 so I needed change and but he insisted that I follow him up to the counter to get it. I was in a bikini so asked him to bring the change to me instead which he refused to do with an extremely bad attitude. We asked for our money back and ended up going to another restaurant down the beach where we were treated with respect. Giving new meaning to freshly grilled fish... Jòjò, the owner was ever so kind to our group. Beyond the amazing food, service, and the spectacular view, he gave me a lesson on how to grill fresh seafood, explaining the subtleties of preparing oily fish like sardines, versus other types of fish (different grill, charcoal, etc.). Instead of focusing on the benefits of grapevine charcosl over normal hardwood charcoal, I must return to the location... it is on the sand, with of course...great food, with great wine. Le PIEGE A TOURISTE par excellence !!! Heureusement l'unique mauvais souvenir de notre passage sur l'île. Grossiers, désagréables et chers, qui profitent de leur point de vue. Nous y somme allé en novembre 2020. Un indice qui aurait dû me mettre la puce à l'oreille, c'est qu'en cherchant le restaurant, je demande à un riverain la direction de celui-ci, il me l'indique gentiment, mais me dit qu'il y a plein d'autres restaurants dans le coin, en me faisant un clin d'œil... Alors bien sûr, ça n'était ni la bonne période pour profiter de la plage, ni la pleine saison pour l'abondance du buffet. Cependant, nous nous sommes très vite rendu compte que nous allions nous faire plumer...Très bien noté, référencé partout sur les guides et sur le net, nous étions confiant (au départ), mais le cabanon était sale, des chats partout, et un accueil des plus désagréable...Pour commencer, on a eu l'impression de déranger, ils étaient en famille en train de discuter. Ils ont vraiment rendu d'atmosphère pesante. Le père (grossier), nous explique vite fait qu'à cause du Covid (geste barrière inexistants), on ne pouvait pas se servir soi même au buffet (ok, normal), (Buffet "à volonté", cela dit en passant, minable, qui n'avait rien à voire avec les photos que l'on voyait sur le net) sauf que ça les arrangeait bien, parce qu'il nous servait de très petites quantité, à la limite du ridicule, commençait par nous remplir la moitié de l'assiette avec de la salade (c'est pas cher, et ça rempli le ventre), et quand nous lui demandions de mettre un peu de ci ou de ça, il soufflait et nous faisait comprendre qu'il était agacé. La nourriture n'était pas des plus fraiche, mais nous n'avons heureusement pas été malade. Pour agrémenter tout ça, nous avons pris quelques sardines à la carte. En fait, ça ne leur intéressait pas de nous laisser une bonne impression, de fidéliser le client, il y aura toujours des "pigeons" de passage pour tomber dans leur piège (sauf que, "ces pigeons" peuvent laisser un avis...).
