Albergo Miramare — Restaurant in Chiavari

The hotel is situated opposite the sea and the rooms to seek (ours was number 4) are those that open onto the long communal balcony with a sea view. Some of the other rooms were rather dark and small.||||This hotel is run by a family and is informal and friendly. Breakfast consists of rolls, croissants, yoghurts and fruit, a typical continental offering. At lunch and dinner the food is particularly good and sometimes it is difficult to get a table because of advance bookings. Some of the seafood specialities were spectacular and although the hotel is only three star they would not have been out of place if photographed for a glossy food magazine.||||If we return to Chiavari, it will certainly be to the Miramare provided a sea-view room looking on to the terrace...

We book for a week and left after the first night of practically no sleep. The smell of fried fish was overpowering and even infused our sheets! The noise of happily drinking patrons, dishes being thrown into the dishwasher, bottles dumped into recycling bins.... we were up nearly all night. The terrace is beautiful but still we had coffee as we were smelling the fish fry! The breakfast consisted of a few sweets and a coolaid-like "juice". Granted our first night was a Sat night which might have been their busies night but we did not want to take a chance since they are well known for their restaurant. So we left for another hotel.
