Restaurant in a beautiful surrounding specializing in risotto and gnocchi. We had the pumpkin and nduja risotto and the gnocchi with stracciatella and shrimps. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection although the nduja in the risotto was a bit overpowering making it difficult to make out the pumpkin flavor. The staff accommodated for the kids’ pickiness with a penne with butter sauce. For dessert we had the tarte tatin which was excellent. Service was however on the slow side but it was quite busy. The service and the location were very nice. Especially if you go on a nice day that you can enjoy the view. The concept of the gnocchi and the risotto it’s very nice; you can order three kinds in total and they will give you a small portion of each. You can try so many of them in fact. Unfortunately the ones we ordered weren’t good. They lacked flavor. Maybe it was just that we got unlucky. Il ristorante si trova in una location carina a Cantello a pochi minuti dal confine con la Svizzera ed a 10 minuti da Varese, in una vecchia casa che qualche anno fa era una pizzeria. L’interno è rimasto invariato, con un’atmosfera semplice ma accogliente. Il menù si presenta bene, con poche scelte di antipasti e un’ampia selezione di primi, focalizzandosi su risotti e gnocchi. Vista la specializzazione, mi sarei aspettato gnocchi fatti a mano, ma il taglio e la consistenza suggerivano un prodotto da pastificio, comunque di discreta qualità. Come antipasto ho provato le polpette, buone ma servite in formato molto piccolo. Per 12€ mi sarei aspettato porzioni più generose, visto che si tratta di un piatto tradizionale e non di un semplice snack. Ho assaggiato due risotti e due piatti di gnocchi, sia in versione terra che mare. I risotti erano molto buoni, ben cotti e curati nei dettagli. Gli gnocchi, invece, mi hanno convinto meno, probabilmente a causa del formato industriale. Tra i piatti a base di pesce, quelli con più carattere, il sugo risultava leggermente acido. Il risotto con speck, invece, avrebbe beneficiato di una presenza più marcata dello speck. Nel complesso, è un ristorante modesto ma valido, particolarmente consigliato per i risotti, che sono il vero punto di forza della cucina.
