This restaurant is not worthy of its name. The quality of the food and the service are disastrous. They actually want to present themselves as Michelin-starred cuisine with a lot of style but no substance.
It starts with the location. We are in the backyard garden of an old town house in Iseo, which would be very nice in itself. Unfortunately, there is a kind of tent set up here with plastic sheets that are supposed to serve as windows. It doesn't look very inviting.
The food itself can be considered a cheap copy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. There are three different five-course menus to choose from: one with meat, one with fish, and one vegetarian menu. The prices are moderate for such elaborate menus (€65) and there is an optional wine pairing with one glass of wine for each course (€38). We had the menu called “Momenti” and the wine pairing.
The presentation of the individual courses is intended to give the impression that you are dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant. The decoration and arrangement of the plates is meant to suggest an exclusive gourmet meal. Unfortunately, the quality is anything but gourmet-worthy. The dishes are bland, seem more like ready meals, and lack any of the flavor or authenticity of the otherwise exquisite Italian cuisine. I wouldn't even blame the chefs, as I suspect they could deliver simple, classic Italian dishes of far better quality. Presumably, management is forcing them to serve this type of food, which they are not capable of doing.
But the worst thing of all is the service, which in my opinion should almost be banned. There are three women, all barely older than 30, who have absolutely no idea about gastronomy and service. Their unfriendliness would be bearable if it weren't for their complete disinterest and careless attitude towards the guests. Wine bottles are shown at the table but then opened elsewhere. The plates are all carried to the table with both hands and the thumbs reach far into the plates. Any expertise about the wines is lacking. Only the vintage and the producer are read from the label. The sommelier has no relevant knowledge and is also unwilling to answer questions about the wine. The empty glasses are only cleared away when asked, and all courses are served robotically, one after the other. The presentation of the food is also completely passionless. The three ladies on the staff simply recite what they have memorized.
We were looking forward to a sophisticated culinary experience and fell completely for the (presumably fake) reviews and the restaurant's deceptive self-presentation. It was a terrible evening, but we managed to keep our spirits up with a lot of humor and tolerance.
Avoid this restaurant; go to a simple pizzeria or eat a piadina at a street café instead. Experiences like this are not worth a visit to an...
Read moreThe location itself was simply beautiful and we enjoyed this a lot.
Also an amazing wine selection that came with the wine pairing.
On the flip side. Our 5 course menu took a full 4,5 hours to serve. Sometimes the wine pairing arrived 20-30 minutes before the food. Used glasses were not always removed. Always had to ask and wait for new water bottles. Almost no explanations for each courses. We had the feeling that they were very short on staff. For that the staff that was there put in quite an effort.
For the food we had the lake menu. Presentation of all dishes was very beautiful also lots of local ingredients which we enjoyed. For the taste, the dessert was absolutely outstanding. The appetizer and the pasta dish were good. The other two dishes tasted very bland with the fish being overcooked and one dish missing the fish caviar on half of the plates at the table. Should not happen at an...
Prezzo in linea.
