I recently dined at Calajanara Restaurant in Amalfi and was treated to a delightful culinary experience. The restaurant's cozy ambiance and picturesque setting created a memorable atmosphere.
The pasta dishes were simply divine - expertly cooked and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and passion for Italian cuisine. The bread, too, was a standout - fresh, warm, and utterly delicious. While the prices were reasonable for the quality of food and location, it was the delectable fare that made the experience truly worth it.
The staff, while efficient and attentive, could have been a bit more warm and welcoming. There was a minor issue when we requested to change tables due to cigar smoke, which didn't seem to be well-received by the staff member. However, this did not significantly detract from our overall dining experience, which was still nothing short of amazing.
In summary, I highly recommend Calajanara Restaurant for anyone seeking a mouthwatering Italian meal in a charming Amalfi setting. The incredible pasta and fantastic bread alone make this restaurant a must-visit for food lovers. Just be aware that the staff may not always be as accommodating as...
Read moreThe views are incredible...but that only gets you to two stars. My husband and I were very excited to go here our hotel recommended it and we got a shuttle there. The whole experience was absolutely bizarre...we get there and are served multigrain rolls instead of bread? Not a big deal but then everyone around us received what appeared to be nice bread. Ordered gnocchi which was mediocre and ravioli which for the first time in our whole trip in Italy (which includes fast food pasta in Rome) somehow came out greasy. Ordered fish with sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms, got fish with carrots, greenbeans and potatoes...no server to be found to explain the issue...very bland. We tried the local dessert which is a pastry with ricotta filling and candied fruit...menu clearly says candied fruit, came with no candied fruit which is basically just an average pastry. The worst part is the service...huge gaps without any follow-up...I have to say even with these views it's not worth it...u can find a view restaurant worth spending 90 euros...
Read moreLovely view, mediocre food. Unfortunately - like many places with a great view - this restaurant underwhelms. Our reservation - definitely made by a hotel nearby - "disappeared" so we were stuck in an airless corner, although with a great view of Positano. The menu seems like it’s been the same for ever (although the tuna was off - presumably because they don’t reorder it in time). The actual menu book was sticky (yeuch) and the wine list was even worse (the actual book looked like it hadn't been changed for a decade), when we finally managed to get it. The chairs were really uncomfortable (metal patio chairs with a light cover; even cushions would have been better - and the glassware was like a really basic bar. Service was universally poor, (the waiters just didn't want to be there) and mostly passive agressive, the food mediocre, and there was very little fresh fruit (in the middle of summer). They need to review their offering or just cater...
