La Grolla Chalet & Restaurant — Restaurant in Courmayeur

Abbiamo scoperto questo locale grazie alla trasmissione “4 Ristoranti” di Alessandro Borghese. Era da tempo sulla nostra lista, e finalmente ci siamo decisi e abbiamo prenotato per gennaio l’esperienza per arrivare al rifugio con la motoslitta. È stato magnifico udire i suoni della notte in montagna con la neve sotto di noi, sentire la fresca brezza invernale sul viso, vedere gli alberi innevati e infine giungere a questo rifugio immerso nella natura: sembra di essere in un paradiso, con la pace che regna sovrana. Siamo rimasti a bocca aperta. L’interno del ristorante è davvero bello, proprio il tipico posto di montagna. Il personale è gentile, anche se non ho apprezzato il fatto che, quello che penso fosse il titolare, portasse via i piatti troppo in fretta, nemmeno il tempo di finire che già non c’erano più…🤣 Per quanto riguarda il menù, abbiamo preso un 2 e un 7. Buoni, ma a nostro parere niente di eccezionale (almeno, per quello che abbiamo mangiato). Come dolce abbiamo ordinato una crostata con una crema alla vaniglia: quest’ultima molto buona, ma la marmellata eccessivamente dolce. Bella la candela sul tavolo, che rende il tutto ancora più romantico.

Spendo qualche parola sull’andata e sul ritorno con la motoslitta. L’andata è stata piacevole, anche se non mi è piaciuto il fatto che una coppia sia stata divisa. Eravamo in 6, ed erano presenti due motoslitte, ognuna delle quali ospitava 3 persone (4 compreso il conducente). Perciò una coppia ha fatto il tragitto separatamente, e questo mi è dispiaciuto molto perché il bello dell’esperienza, se in coppia, è farla in due… Quindi se dovesse capitarvi, vi consiglio di farlo presente per non rovinare il momento! Anche perché non è gratuito, perciò si ha tutto il diritto di fare un reclamo. Il ritorno non è stato dei migliori: il guidatore (differente da quello dell’andata, che guidava in modo più cauto) aveva una guida un po’ spericolata, andava troppo veloce e bisognava tenersi ben saldi alle maniglie per non cadere. Per qualche istante abbiamo avuto paura. Oltre al pericolo, capite bene che dopo mangiato, andare a quella velocità non è davvero il massimo! Non avevamo nemmeno i caschi in dotazione.

Infine, arriviamo alle stelle. Se dovessi considerare solo la location sarebbero 5 in assoluto, ma visti i lati negativi che ho esposto in precedenza opto per le 4. Comunque ve lo consiglio, è da provare...

Nice terrace no doubt but the rest is to be forgotten and I recommend avoiding this restaurant. I ordered linguine vongole and bottarga, the dish came in three minutes. Impossible unless the pasta was precooked. I had a few bites but after a while my mouth felt gluey. I couldn’t eat anymore and left the rest. The vongole looked and tasted weird even though the waitress insisted they arrived the same day, but how long have they been on the road?I am Italian but the fact that upon arrival the staff spoke insistently in English with me made me feel that the restaurant is used to foreigners that know little about Italian food, eat everything and leave good reviews. Good establishment in the mountainous regions of the Alps on the Italian side. We had to take snowmobiles to get here as in winter the roads are too treacherous to use a standard car.

We went here for an after work meal for 15 people and they accommodated us well. We had a set menu which was very nice and very enjoyable. I felt the service could have been a a touch better, all the staff are very young and I feel this come across in the level of the service.
