Trattoria Marcellino — Restaurant in Crotone

I don’t know if this place has changed hands but the menu in the restaurant is not as extensive as the one online.

This was by far the worst pasta I’ve ever eaten.

We ordered the Carbonara and the Amatriciana both pastas were undercooked and yes I understand al dente but theses were still crunchy. The carbonara was bland with a few pieces of Pecorino, the Amatriciana was slightly better and at least had a bit of taste thanks to the tomatoes. I’d consider the servings to be small but tbh that ended up being a blessing.

When the bill arrived we had been charged €3 coperto (cover charge) per person instead of €1, overcharged both pastas and a dessert. They said sorry we got someone else’s bill and changed it, but again overcharged us the dessert which they then manuallyremoved. Overall we were overcharged €11 so make sure you check yours before paying. I truly believe this was intentional and hoped we would not check. We noted that other tables were given a small bread basket - we were not.

The service is poor, we had to get their attention to order, our wine came after our meal and dessert didn’t even turn up despite being charged.

Wow. Great vibe. Very family but bustling with energy. Fantastic food. Highly recommend the shared platter of local delights for antipasto. The pasta was great and my husband’s steak was outstanding. Calabrian wine is delicious too. The staff were lovely and bilingual for those of who are sadly not….. we’re stopping over in Crotone while sailing from Sicily to Puglia and onto Greece. Le aspettative erano molto alte... purtroppo si sono trasformate in qualcosa da dimenticare... La prima impressione della location è buona, ma il cibo è da dimenticare.... Polpette che non avevano nessun sapore, tanto pane e poco del resto.... Antipasto scenografico, ma scarno, un solo fungo sottolio e salame affettato trasparente.... Grigliata mista con carne stracotta, dura, difficile anche da masticare e senza sapore.... Costolette carbonizzate e senza carne??? Patate impacchiuse da dimenticare, crude e inzuppate d'olio, sostituite e poi riportate uguali, con commento fuoriluogo del cameriere... "Peperoni e patate" bollite??? Senza sapore ne piccanti... Insomma esperienza che non credo ripeterò più...sperando nell'oblio... Per concludere....prezzo esagerato, abbiamo pagato anche quello di cui ci eravamo lamentati con grande disinteresse da parte del proprietario per le lamentele educatamente esposte!
