I just had one of the top 5 best pastas of my life tonight - I only have one problem - I can’t really remember the other 4. It was the squid ink home made tagliasomething. Oh God I try to remember it’s just that it’s always a slight variation on a pasta name you remember - anyway - my friend Carlo said he was getting it and he is a local and they usually know. Now this is yet another example where it pays to not be looking at the lake - the exchange is that you get a lovely cooler atmosphere in the hills with more involvement in the meal and less lake gazing. And it’s better priced than those wankers who will fleece you for a piece of lasagne by the wharf. I promise you this os a treasure and that prawn and tomatoes in that rich peppery and bisquey style cream sauce well it just explodes in your mouth from the first twirl and you start asking questions like “how” “how did they?” But they just did you see. Everything was good and what a generous and cold beer it was too. Desserts were splendid which means we had a trifecta between the salumi, the pasta and dessert and if you wondering why we didn’t go in for the secondi well it’s just that the portions are so big. We were done after pasta and had to really make room for the cake. Finally let me tell you there is a charming little piazza behind by about 50 metres just watch our for the cars they can hardly squeeze through the laneways let alone make way for your heifer arse after you punished the pasta. Read moreWe dined here twice, whilst staying at a local B and B for the weekend. Our hosts recommended this place to us, and we were very lucky to get a booking the Friday evening, and they accomodated us on the Sunday evening with no booking, despite the place being busy.
The staff are so friendly, efficient, and helpful! Everyone in the restaurant, and the bar downstairs. We had no Italian, only very basic (our apologies!), and they were so good to help us with the menu.
I'm vegetarian and they were so accomodating, helping me choose options, and the food, of course, was delicious!
We had beautiful pizzas the first night, griled veg, and far too much of the lovely table wine, which was also fantastic value.
We definitley overstayed our welcome the first night, a long day of travelling, too much wine and enjoying the place too much, and the staff were so kind - they never made us feel rushed - I am a waitress at home and I hate when people do this and I apologise!
The sunday night I had a gorgeous pasta with mushrooms, and my partner had a meat and vegetable dish, we made sure to leave quickly this time after our meal, and moved to the bar downstairs! There we tried local beer, more delicious wine and sampled the Gelato - they have beautiful desserts and Gelato also!
We loved this restaurant, and we are so grateful for your friendly, welcoming service and atmosphere - and great value - 10/10...
Read moreAwesome restaurant, good prices, large portions, excellent and friendly service, and most importantly good food. We shared 3 dishes and a dessert and that was more than enough for 2 people. Black homemade pasta with shrimp was the best we've had in Italy, not heavy, deep sea flavors. Basil gnocchi with fresh tomatoes and buratta was also great, fresh and real flavors of basil and cherry tomatoes, stracciatella on top, not complicated in a very good way. The ravioli was the weaker dish, not for us, it was heavier on the cream and had some flavors we're not used to, not bad though. For dessert we had chocolate muffin with ice-cream and chocolate sauce, the ice-cream was phenomenal, the rest was ok so I would recommend a scoop of ice-cream for dessert. The service was top notch, very friendly and attentive, good recommendations, our waitress told us that these 3 dishes were enough even though we wanted more and we're glad we listened, her wine recommendation was great aswell. Overall a great night out at a homey restaurant where you feel like they care about...
