La Locanda di Martumè — Restaurant in Fasano

I honestly don’t get how this place has such high ratings, because our experience was really underwhelming. I usually like to give a restaurant a fair shot by trying a variety of dishes instead of judging based on just one plate. Luckily, we were a group of seven, and no one ordered the same thing, so we had the chance to taste a good portion of the menu. Unfortunately, most of what we tried fell flat. Some dishes were downright disappointing, like the risotto and the ravioli; while others were just “meh.” The only dish that stood out as decent was the orecchiette with ragù, but even that wasn’t anything special. Since I barely touched my main, I figured I’d give dessert a try to end on a better note. Big mistake. The tiramisu was a total letdown 🙁 the ladyfingers (or “cat’s tongues”) weren’t even soaked properly, almost as if they’d just been thrown in at the last minute 👎🏼. Made a reservation for 22:00. When we arrived all the tables were taken and they told us our table will be ready soon in 5 minutes. We took a walk around the city and after 15 minutes not only were the tables still full, but there was also a group of people standing waiting for their table as well. We called the waitress once to ask about the situation and she ignored us, and the second time we called her she rudely made a gesture to wait one minute. Time was now close to 22:30 and the restaurant supposedly closes at 23:00. No point in sitting for 30 minutes, we left and ate someplace else. Fantastic food, high quality and reasonable. Charming location, very warm and welcoming staff, very friendly and accomodating gentleman helped us get a taxi back to our hotel after our app failed us. Talked to us while we waited, and although we considerably delaying him closing up, he remained incredibly gracious, and even helped us find the taxi as it arrived at the end of the street. These are the people that restore your faith in humanity. Thank you for your kindness, and for a wonderful evening....
