Desco Tegami a Tavola e Griglia — Restaurant in Fiumicino

I’ll start off with saying that there is an obvious reason why a lot of the bad reviews are in Italian and the higher ones are in English… the food is not good at all and Italians can tell. The only positive aspect is that the service was nice, the service staff were kind as well as apologetic for the mistakes the kitchen made. The food? The worst pizza I’ve had, I’ve had better pizza back in Australia and from the frozen section of the supermarket. Our pizza wasn’t just bad but it was missing one of the ingredients (bell peppers on the vegetarian pizza, which we pointed out and the wait staff was apologetic about) and the mozzarella did not taste like it should at all. The ingredients weren’t cut properly (zucchini and eggplant) or cooked evenly and it looked like they were just carelessly thrown onto the pizza. I know Roman Pizza is thin, but this was so thin that it was like a tortilla and too crumbly, like the ‘focaccia’ we were given with our entree. The only good part of the food was the burrata/pesto/tomato entree at the start, which probably only tasted good as there was no cooking involved. The only thing that got us through the meal was that we were very hungry, it was late at night and our options were very limited. Avoid at all costs if you are here on your last night in Italy (go for fast food instead), definitely a let down especially if you have had good food elsewhere on your trip or have been to the South/Sicily where the food is fantastic. Again, this is no reflection on the service staff at all who were very kind, just on the quality...

DESCO è un autentico gioiello gastronomico che ho avuto il piacere di frequentare negli ultimi anni. Le lusinghiere recensioni su questo ristorante si rivelano tutte veritiere, e ogni visita qui supera costantemente le mie aspettative.

Il ristorante è raramente affollato, c'è sempre un'atmosfera intima e rilassante. Parlando del reparto culinario, il menu di DESCO offre una straordinaria varietà di piatti che riflettono l'ampia diversità culinaria. Dai sorprendenti antipasti speciali alla pasta fatta a mano, come i Tonnarelli alla carbonara, l'Amatriciana, la cacio e pepe, e molte altre delizie tutte servite nei famosi tegami. La ricchezza di condimenti, la cremosità e la succulenza sono una costante in ogni piatto.

La cena diventa ancora più straordinaria grazie alla possibilità di assistere allo chef al lavoro nella cucina a vista. Osservare la preparazione delle pietanze e la maestria nella creazione degli impasti dei tonnarelli aggiunge un tocco di magia al nostro pasto.

Anche i secondi piatti, sia a base di carne che di pesce, sono di eccezionale qualità e sapore. Ogni portata è una delizia per il palato. I dolci, poi, sembrano direttamente preparati in casa, con una ricchezza di sapori, una leggerezza e un piacere irresistibili.

So i was visiting Italy with a grup of friends and stayed at a nearby hotel. For dinner they sent me to this resturant (because the hotel didn't have a kitchen for some reason). I ate a total of three dinners. Dinner There was a grand total of one menu. The first dish was pasta which for whatever reason took 50 minutes to make (and it was still not cooked). Next up was a stake with some potatoes, the food wasn't seasoned at all. I am no food expert but I am pretty sure pink means that the meat is not done. The pana cota dessert tasted like a by product of gum. Dinner First dish was again pasta which was actually quite good.
