Ristorante Pizzeria Roncesare — Restaurant in Formia

Went there on thurs july 6 2015 to celebrate a birthday and picked this place from reading the reviews. We made a reservations just to be safe. They close one day a week think it was Mondays. They have a fair bit of parking which is nice. Its clean and get to choose to sit inside or outside. I think they have a/c inside (we sat out side) We went at 8pm and it was empty, which was different for us since being from Canada we usually eat around 5/6pm for supper. The place started to get busy around 9:30pm, but it was nice having it emptish since we don't have to wait as long for the food. As a English speaking tourist it was nice to have the owners speak good English (wife is from England) and they have 3 English menus. We had a variety of pasta, pizza and sausage. out of 9 people everyone enjoyed what they had picked. So I would recommend going here at least once. We might go there again just to try their other dishes. Their prices are quite reasonable for 9 dishes 2 desserts wine, beer and a few bottles of water came to 124 euros. Prices range from 4.50 euros -12 euros roughly. Their bruschetta for 1.50 euros you get 4 pieces of bread with tomatoes which were really good we thought. I had the twisted pasta with anchovies, sundried tomatoes, and black olives also had cherry tomatoes, and slightly coated with red sauce I think It was. Was really good, the anchovies were not salty at all (think they are baked). The birthday girl had cheesecake as a dessert for her birthday and they put a candle and wrote happy birthday in English on the plate which was a nice touch. The only thing was it didn't taste like the cheesecake were use to in Canada (doesn't have the cream cheese taste) the other dessert was tiramisu which was good. desserts are 3.50/4 euros. Famiglia con 3 bambini. Arriviamo senza aver prenotato e, nonostante i tavoli liberi in giardino (che resteranno tali fino alla chiusura) ci fanno accomodare all'interno con aria scocciata perché fuori non c'è posto (anche se noi siamo passati da lì per entrare). Ok.

Ci ignorano per mezz'ora buona senza nemmeno portarci da bere (c'era un pó di gente ma non da impazzire nel servire ai tavoli ed i camerieri vagavano senza meta per la sala). Quando stiamo per alzarci con l'intenzione di andarcene, vengono a prendere le ordinazioni perché devono averci sentito. Sorvoliamo sul tavolo sporco di avanzi di cibo e di un tovagliolo rattoppato. Pizze decenti, spaghetti alle vongole affogati in un mare d'olio, quasi una zuppa (?!). Ho provato a mangiarli io ed è stata impresa ardua. Non credo fosse uno stile del posto in quanto in altri ristoranti della zona (es. Ventotene) li fanno come dalle mie parti.

Porto pazienza per tutto quanto fino a quando mi tocca inseguire i camerieri per poter pagare il conto. Dopo una lunga attesa e diversi solleciti a persone diverse arriva quello che credo fosse il titolare. Noto subito che ci aveva addebitato bibite da noi non consumate.

Forse sono stato un pó troppo diretto (mio difetto caratteriale) nell'elencare tutti i disguidi della serata ma, vedendo la risposta del titolare per niente dispiaciuto che replica semplicemente con un "faccio il ristoratore da 37 anni e problemi li ho avuti solo con lei" mi fa capire tutto.

Se sai trattare con i clienti, la prima cosa che devi fare è farti vedere un minimo comprensivo e dispiaciuto, o perlomeno fingerlo, anche se ti sono antipatico perché potrei avere ragione io, forse. Partire con "il cliente ha torto" non ti porterà da nessuna parte, anche se a volte il cliente rompiscatole lo incontrerai per certo. Mi offri un bicchiere di limoncello, ci ridiamo su ed io ti lascio anche la mancia. Invece no.

Possiamo avere opinioni diverse su come si cucinano gli spaghetti con le vongole, ma sul servizio non ci sono giustificazioni. Non c'è attenzione al cliente (una famiglia in questo caso).

Tornando al conto sbagliato, la ciliegina è arrivata quando ha provato poi ad insinuare che avessimo consumato un numero maggiore di bevande provando prima con la coca cola e poi con le bottiglie d'acqua. Prima le bibite erano 4 poi le bottiglie erano 2, anzi no altre 2. Un delirio. E le ordinazioni le aveva prese proprio lui. Alla fine me le toglie dal conto come per dire "ok furbetto te le regalo dai". Guardando altre recensioni sembra che il gonfiare il conto con piatti o bevande non consumate o richieste venga fatto di scuola. Probabilmente da 37 anni.

My family and I have been staying in the area for about a week sampling all the local restaurants and last night we found this one. I'm so pleased we did. It's the best by far. The service is excellent - very attentive staff without being overbearing. The pizza's are the best of all we have tried, including those in Rome where we started our holiday. Prices are low, the menu is extensive but not confusing and there are some very good options beyond pizza which some of my family sampled and were very happy with. The restaurant is in a quiet, accessible spot and very well laid out, with modern decor and seating inside and out.
