This was a very disappointing experience, I would have given zero stars if I could. Food we ordered wasn’t edible. Bread was mouldy and dry. Pan fried squid was in fact a stew with a suspiciously smelly squid. Pasta was very salty and black rice risotto tasted like rice cooked in unsalted water with a mix of leftovers king prawns cut offs (heads only!). Yes we are tourists , no we don’t speak Italian but we’re given English menu. No, we were not drunk. Just a middle aged couple out for what we hoped would be a nice dinner. We waited patiently , whilst tables around us were served food, even if they arrived later. We didn’t liked the starter nor mouldy bread but still not mentioned anything to the waiter. Once been served the pasta and rice , we couldn’t eat it. It looked and tasted revolting. We told the waiter we can’t eat it and won’t pay for it. She was fine with it, but didn’t really offered any explanation nor apologies. This was was quite peculiar since tables around us seemed to be served a fresh, tasty looking food that everyone seemed to be enjoying. I’m not a snob, nor a complainer but I know a difference between fresh honest food and crap served on the plate. If the restaurant doesn’t want to serve tourists they shouldn’t offer us a table. Venerdì dovevamo recarci a Grosseto con mio marito e la sera prima, lette le ottime recensioni, abbiamo prenotato per il pranzo in questo ristorante. Ristorante diviso in due sale, si può mangiare cucina di pesce e di terra con ottima varietà di piatti in entrambi i menù arricchiti anche da un buon numero di piatti del giorno a seconda delle disponibilità del pescato e delle verdure di stagione. Noi abbiamo optato per delle pietanze di pesce: freschissimo, qualità del prodotto ottima, cucina rispettosa della materia prima che riesce ad esaltarne proprietà e sapori con ottimi abbinamenti di verdura e frutta. Abbiamo cominciato con due antipasti: zuppetta di porri con calamari e insalata di carciofi freschi con mazzancolle, abbiamo proseguito con: spaghettini al nero di seppia (all'interno dell'impasto della pasta) con crema di uova di pesce spada e ravioli ripieni di dentice con crema di gamberi. Tutto veramente ottimo, i complimenti abbondanti fatti a Moreno (cuoco e proprietario del locale) sono stati meritati. We are trying to find it now in Florence and in winery shop they don't have it, but acknowledged that this is very special wine. Also we loved a grilled beef, prepared from aged meat. It's incredibly tender, melting in the mouth, true gourmand experience!
