We had a really bad experience here.
The daily fish on the menu was listed at 6€/kg, but when I asked what fish it actually was, the waiter just said “oven fish, we’ll see how much it costs” and never told me the price, just kept saying we will see. In the end, they charged 30€ for a fish under 2 kg, as you can see in the picture and I learned about the price on the bill only. To make it worse, the fish was raw in the middle and dry on the edges — I honestly don’t understand how that’s even possible.
The shrimp and mango salad was just as bad: some shrimp were large and raw, others tiny, gray, and badly overcooked. The spaghetti ragù was inedible — no seasoning at all, no salt, no pepper, and unlike the table next to us, we didn’t even get parmesan with it.
The evening before we had crème brûlée and panna cotta. The first crème brûlée came half raw and half burned with way too much sugar, but at least the young waitress took care of it and remade it properly. She and the young server boy were the only two kind and professional people we met there.
The rest of the staff, especially the older waiters, were rude, grumpy, and pushy — insisting we order more (like focaccia we clearly said we didn’t want) and even laughing at us when we asked for lemon to add to the dried-out fish.
Overall, this was a horrible experience. Between the raw and overcooked food, hidden prices, and rude service, I strongly recommend going...
Read moreThey do take-aways but they don't take orders through the phone, you need to go there, order and wait for it. If you sit down, you will be regarded with the utmost kindness, which almost makes up for the food. The minestrone actually smelled bad, so we sent it back after only a spoonful - there was talk about taking them off the bill but that didn't happen. The salmon tagliatelle was okay (4/5) but the carbonara needed a whole lot of salt (normal and gluten free as well), not to mention that the bacon was full of gristle. If you order the beef tartare, make sure you know how you like it because all you'll get is some raw ground meat, an egg and some bread - you need to DIY it, for 18 euros. The crema catalana was burnt on top and the lemon was overwhelming - it was served in a mini frying pan, which is cute, but the nonstick might not be the best idea with the metal spoon. The gluten free pizza, although they were kind enough to swith the mozzarella to (a really dry) burrata, was probably the worst I had in Italy, in my opinion, there's room for improvement in terms of the crust. All in all, I don't think I would...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience, it’s best to skip this restaurant. At first glance, it seems like a charming spot in the center of Jelosolo, but as soon as the food arrives, the illusion fades. Pizza with mushrooms? Straight from a can. The dough? Even and lifeless – clearly machine-rolled, lacking the typical puffed-up edges of a handmade pizza.
We received the aperitif and wine at the same time – as if they were rushing to get us over with. One person had finished eating, the other was still chewing, and the waiter rushed in to snatch the plate – not because the place was crowded (it wasn’t), but likely out of habit to free up the table quickly.
In a town with so many better options, it’s a shame to waste your time (and money) here. It may sound odd, but even the pizza place next to the kebab stand offers fresh mushrooms – and a bit more respect for...
