We found this gem through these review ratings and, having eaten there twice, want to continue their string of perfect reviews!
We arrived at noon to find that the opening time on Google Maps was off by 30 minutes. Nicole was setting up the tables outside and was charming. Deb walked through to check out the seating and Mischa, the chef (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) asked her check the lentils which were perfect. So we walked around and came back.
We had some oysters to start and then a dish that sounded so unusual, I decided to try it. Raw tuna with a white chocolate sauce, wasabi, and ponzu topped with a crust made with sepia. Right after we ordered Francesco ran out and came back with the sashimi grade tuna that went into my dish while we enjoyed our oysters and prosecco. The flatbread served with them was addictive, lightly brushed with oil and topped with tiny basil leaves; I could eat that alone for hours.
When the tuna dish was served I found another ingredient…smoked paprika dusted on the black ink crust. Everything played a symphony of tastes in perfect harmony.
Soooo, it was actually our good fortune that the second dish we thought we ordered didn’t get entered into the system. The oysters and tuna were so incredible that we just ordered everything again! Prosecco, oysters, and tuna!
And then we did the unthinkable; we made a reservation for dinner early enough for us to catch our return ferry to Palau.
More oysters, more prosecco, and this time Deb had clams and shrimp while Mischa surprised me with a grilled squid over the lentils.
We left quite full, both in our bellies and in our hearts. We felt we had not only enjoyed superb cuisine, but had become, for a little while at least, part of a family.
We hope you will dine here and make this newly opened restaurant a part of your time in Maggalena. They deserve all the...
Read moreExtremely negative experience with person who approached like owner. Yesterday, during our trip over beatifull areas of La Maddalena we have visited the city as well. During walk through the center, we wanted to take a coffee and ice cream for our kids. As we have seen an open doors of restaurant, we entered and ask the lady if we can get a coffee and ice cream. Lady was pretty nice and explained to us that restaurant will open in half hour but if we want, we can get a coffee. With thanks we were not able to accept the offer as we have need also ice cream for kids who went to toilett in the meantime. We asked lady if it is problem and she was again politte, having no problem with that. Till that time everything was typical italian, no problems and smiling. At that time, some man entered in the restaurant and immediatelly started screaming on us. Style like who are you, what are you doing here, immediatelly out etc. We were quite shocked and tried to explain that we were not aware that restaurant is closed as the doors were open and that we already spoke with the lady but his answer was only again next portion of loud screaming. I would not have any problem to pay for toilette for our kids if needed or whatever but there was no chance to speak in normal way to that guy. Really horrible person. Should change his job. It is only typical example of person that is frustrated and only smiling in front of full wallet of tourists, yesterday he showed...
Read moreSpontaneous trip to Maddalena, and we stumbled upon this restaurant. We immediately sparked up a conversation with the owners who were quite happy to share their menu and tell us the story of their new restaurant.
Instead of ordering, we asked for everything to be a surprise. He brought us one of the softest and most delicious steaks I’ve had in Europe and an incredible mussel dish with a lightly spiced tomato sauce. The tiramisu (with 3 flavors) was a perfect way to finish- a very fun interpretation of the classic tiramisu.
They have seasonal menu items, so you can expect the freshest ingredients and new menu selections throughout the year. Definitely recommend coming here for a relaxed hangout in the alley or a beautiful view of the...
