Garden Sea – Ristorante, Pizzeria e Cucina Gluten Free — Restaurant in La Maddalena

Worst restaurant - don’t go there! They totally ruined our evening, such a waste of time and money. Worst customer service ever!! We arrived at the restaurant and we were told we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Half an hour later our table was still not set, and the waiter kept ignoring eye contact. We eventually asked if we would be seated anytime soon, and he said he was the only waiter and too busy, but he would set our table soon. 10 minutes later we were finally at the table - with no menus, no cutlery, whatsoever. We had to ask to see the menu. When the waiter took our order he apologised for the wait and said he would serve us as soon as possible - we only ordered 3 pizzas so it should be nice and quick (or so we thought!). 30 minutes later we could see that the pizzaioli were not preparing any food - instead one went on a break and the other one was cleaning the kitchen. 20 minutes more of us trying to understand if we were eating anytime soon, a waitress comes and asks what are we waiting for (she thought we finished dinner already). Our order had not even gone through the kitchen at that point! Then they said they didn’t have the ingredients, but they that they did. 10 minutes after (1 hour in after placing an order) the pizzaiolo asked us across the kitchen what was our order!! Absolutely ridiculous! Finally the pizzas arrive, they don’t even bother to bring us a fork and knife - we need to ask once again. One of the pizzas, the calzone was burned on the outside and completely raw in the middle making it not edible. I went to the pizzaiolo myself and asked for a different pizza. I complained to the waiter - we had waited 40 minutes to be seated and 1 hour and 10 minutes to eat, but instead I wasn’t even eating yet. He went on to tell me how busy he was and it’s not his fault, but in customer service terms this is unacceptable since I am a paying customer!! If you are gluten intolerant then don’t bother. Both my partner and I are and we had an awful experience here and as I write this (the morning after) I am still suffering. My partner had to order a salad (this consisted of a bowl of iceberg lettuce with cherry tomatoes and sweet corn), a bowl of chips (these were under cooked) and calamari (more iceberg lettuce!, and the calamari was inedible) as she is also lactose intolerant unfortunately. I had a gluten free pizza of which looked nice but unfortunately wasn’t. We paid our bill and left, not really looking at the bill (other than the amount) until we got back to the apartment. We got charged for each of the four separate plates a €3 charge on top of the price of the item and a table tax of €5! So all in all we got charged €17 for being there and needing to eat a gluten free diet. My partner left there hungry, I am still suffering from the gluten free pizza and I feel like I have pants pulled down regards the cost of this meal. This all happened whilst we were subjected to watching football on a massive television. I’d liked to have left a positive review but I’m afraid I just can’t. I’m leaving this as a warning to anybody of whoms tolerance levels are worse than mine. Stay away. Having been robbed of all our possessions on our arrival in Sardinia we managed to get together enough money for one meal out, this was it and we wished we had bothered. I sent my feedback via webpage. Nobody answered. So, I will write my feedback here.

Firstly, many thanks to your nice young waiter (he had dark, black hair), who organized two baby-seats. Beacause of him, I gave 2 stars, not 1.

I ordered french fries for my daughter. It was full of salt. Hard to eat even for me. So was the impression of my two daughters, my husband and me.

Secondly, I ordered Margherita and my husband Diavola. We were waiting at least 30 minutes, probably even more. When I asked the waiter (after 30-40 minutes of waiting), he told me, that he has another big table and I have to wait few minutes. I saw that people at two tables, who came after me, already had their dishes (also pizza). So, I decided to go out. The restaurant did not offer anything due to long waiting. The did not apologize. I told I am not going to pay for the french fries, as it was so bad (too much salt). It is a custom, that clients may not pay, if the dish is very bad. However, the waiter was not nice. He was expecting me to pay for the french fries and water. I paid it. And I am very disgusted. I simply lost 7 Euro (it is not a lot, but it is not about that). I lost time.
