Osteria delle Spezie — Restaurant in La Spezia

A birthday dinner ruined. We were the only guests at that night, but we weren't really welcome. We had booked a table on the terrace for two in advance, what a disappointment it was when we arrived to find the terrace was gassy and unprepared. We had to wait while the waiter set up chairs, tables in front of us, cleaned them with inches of dust etc. There was no toilet paper in the toilet, cigarette butts scattered under the tables, non-existent menu only voice description of the waitress. The cuisine leaves a lot to be desired... The highlight was when the waiter/priority turned off the music in the middle of dinner because it disturbed him to talk through the speaker, and we were forced to listen to his conversations. We were amazed. After a seven days of trip through Italy we finally found place with no weak points. Perfect food, great wine and great service. We ordered eight different meals and two deserts. Everything was perfect. With three bottles of wine the bill was very reasonable. In sum we had the best evening dinner so far. As a final information. Do not be surprised by a service. We tried 3 kinds of pasta and one kind of dessert at the restaurant. They are ordinary. There is no menu. Only the waitress told us what were served that day. Luckily she speaks a bit English. Maybe because we don’t speak Italian, the service was kept to minimal. There is a carpark right beside the restaurant but it is not for the restaurant customers.
