Taverna Coppapan & Pizzeria Le Dahu — Restaurant in La Thuile

Update 2023/02: Update a year later as we went back here with the beautiful experience from last year still in our memory. While the food was still great - although the choices were less exciting, and too expensive for what it offered - and the level of English has certainly improved it was at the expense of the service. Gone was the friendliness, service was slow, orders mixed up and we were overcharged for drinks we didn't have and food we didn't order. I guess it is the staff that makes or breaks a place. A shame!

Original review: Barely managed to book a table at this beautiful, rustic restaurant by the gondola and with good reason. We were grateful to get a table at 5:30 as after a full day skiing we were all hungry and our daughter was needing an early night. From the starters (Parmieggana di Toma) to the local specialty (La Polentata) and the customized pizza everything was brilliantly presented and tasted likewise! The portions were generous. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Special thanks to our waitress Piera who was great with our daughter and in making sure we had everything we needed. Food is good, I can recommend the pizzas. Kitchen is also fast. But service is not great. Firstly not really friendly personnel. Then we also ordered 3 desserts and one coffee. The first 2 desserts came fast. The third, a hot chocolate cake (and coffee) caused some problems. I knew it would take a bit longer, it was also noted on the menu, because they need to heat it obviously. After 30 minutes we go check because the cake and coffee are still missing. Maybe they are baking a fresh one just for me😇😇- No, they let me know they don't serve the hot chocolate cake at lunch??Maybe let me know that instead of letting me wait for nothing. Let's start by saying that la Thuile is a lovely place, with nice restaurants and good food. Taverna coppapan is by far the WORST service I had in la Thuile or anywhere else I've ever eaten!!!! To be completely honest, the food and pizza are not so bad, but when you need to deal with low life waiters and an owner that have no clue what's happening in his restaurant...it's too much!!!! Too long wait for dishes that arrived randomly to one and not to another, waiters that are walking around like headless chickens not once apologising for anything, and at the end, when I told them how unhappy we were, they just talked bad to me, using bad words and sending me away... is this place for...
