My sisters and I were trying to find a restaurant in Nicastro that served dishes other than pizza. We were extremely lucky to happen on 1934. It seems a little bit out of the centre hub but was a short walk from where we are staying on Nicotera. The housemade pastas were incredible- spaghettoni with shrimp and pistachio, the gnocchi in a tomato cream sauce and the swordfish pasta dish in an eggplant cream were completely unique and delicious. The focaccia also made in house was truly unbelievable alongside a caprese salad. And the tiramisu was unlike anything we had ever tasted - creamy without being overly sweet. We finished the meal with Amaro, the digestif with hints of wild fennel, liquorice and bay leaf and beautiful biscuits. Read moreOverall amazing experience. I had the Ortolana pasta which I loved. A great balance of flavours with a slight spice which matched the pasta perfectly. The noodles were perfectly cooked al dente and told were made in house. I finished with the tiramisu which was a little more custardy or softer than what you typically get but this was the best one I’ve ever had.
The owner was very helpful and nice. He spoke good English especially compared to the general experience I have had which was helpful. The restaurant was modern, clean, well lit and a nice temperature.
The location is a few blocks away from the main strip of town so I was a little apprehensive of going but I am so glad I did. Do not let that deter you.

To make up for the time, they generously brought out a flatbread taster and a full focaccia bread for free, which was a lovely touch.
Between the three of us, we ordered one pizza and two plates of pasta. While I personally didn't try the pasta, I heard nothing but good things.
