Porto Adriano — Restaurant in Lecce

We tried to have lunch at Porto Adriano on a Sunday in late May. It was busy, but only 65% full, and there was plenty of staff. We asked for a table for 2 and were seated. They brought one menu and asked if we wanted water. We ordered a litre of water and sat there waiting for more than 30 minutes while they ignored us. We asked in Italian if the problem was that we had no reservations or if it was because we were tourists and they said no it was not a problem. They continued to ignore us and we asked, again in Italian if they wanted us to leave. Again they said no, but didn’t ask for our order. We decided to leave after drinking half of the water. I understood that it was a national holiday and that the restaurant was full, but somehow that should not be an excuse.

One star for service, because we have arrived, waited 20 mins untill we were given a menu, then another 20 minuts nothing happened. Couple that arrived after us was already served with apetizers and drinks.

When we heard one table complaining that some of them already eaten their food, while others did not even get the plate, we decided to leave.

When we reminded waiters that we need to be served, they said "right away" and just forgot.

We go at least once a month, but maybe more. Our friend is “at home” here. He discusses every fish in the ice filled case at the entrance with the server. Then tells the chef how he wants it prepared. Nothing to do with the menu. Always excellent. Friend’s wife is Vegan, so they always prepare special dishes for her.
