Logico — Restaurant in Licata

The waiters are cads, totally rude, particularly the older one. The menu introduction has a blurb in English, plus three other languages introducing the restaurant, but nobody speaks English. I usually do not hold those accountable for not speaking English, but when a menu caters to four different languages (Italian, English, French and Spanish) and the servers do not reciprocate I do have a bit of displeasure. Dishes are practically thrown onto the table and the last course is not cleared away before the next one arrives at the table.

I had three dishes starting with “Zuppa di cozze” or Mussel soup. I was expecting a “soup”, either a cream/bisque or consommé. What arrived were cooked mussels in their shells. I love mussels, don’t get me wrong, and these were some of the largest I have ever had and very tender for their size and not overcooked as they can often be. Easily the highlight of the meal, just however not what I thought I would be getting. The sauce was a non-descript cherry tomatoes and basal with some black pepper thrown in for heat. The table bread was unsuitable for dipping, sesame seed crusted, no other bread was offered. From here the meal goes down hill.

Next course is “Spaghetti alla norma”, this was not my original choice as my first choice they were out of or would not serve me – see my very first sentence above. This dish consisted of, of course spaghetti, those same cherry tomatoes, you can almost never go wrong with cherry tomatoes and here comes the kick it down the garbage disposal part – eggplant with skin so tough it was impossible to eat – I had to remove the skin from my mouth, I just couldn’t get it down. Very poor preparation.

My last course the older waiter forgot about and had to send the younger waiter to my table to find out what he forgot. The dish was “Calamari fritti o alla griglia” or Fried or grilled squid, I chose grilled. This dish is new to me so these are first impressions; I was comparing it in my head to Octopus arms which I have been having quite a bit of lately. First off octopus and calamari are tough I knew that going in. This calamari seemed like shoe leather and a part of it was under cooked and really did a number on my mouth, the rest did a number on my teeth and jaw muscles. However, the eggplant (skin) was tougher.

A terrible experience! Waiters are not wearing any mask when Licata is one of the hottest spots in Sicily about corona virus and the mayor has officially asked the citizens to get vaccinated due to the increasing number of infections. Waiters are also rude, they never say thank you or you are welcome and almost throw the plates on the table. The swordfish I ordered was very poor, just a slice of it divided in two, that costed 18€, hello? In this restaurant they don't serve desserts... coffe is served in a plastic cup. A very bad place I will definitely...

If you are a foreigner (anywhere outside of the province) avoid this place at all costs. Food is just alright. Service is awful. We had not finished starters, and they brought in the other courses, so I naturally had to leave the starter, otherwise my pasta would have gone cold. The way the manager carries himself is simply rude. We had not even finished eating, he took the bread from our table and brought it to another one. By the end of the first course I just wanted to leave and asked for the bill… he did not even show me a breakdown, he just wanted me to pay the total. When I asked to see the breakdown, he was so dismissive it made me sick. Not a good picture of Sicilian hospitality. Also toilets are in desperate need of attention. Please go elsewhere.

Se siete stranieri (ovunque fuori provincia) evitate questo locale a tutti i costi. Il cibo va bene. Il servizio è pessimo. Non avevamo finito gli antipasti e ci hanno portato le altre portate, quindi naturalmente ho dovuto lasciare l'antipasto altrimenti la pasta si sarebbe raffreddata. Il modo in cui si comporta il manager è semplicemente scortese. Non avevamo nemmeno finito di mangiare, lui ha preso il pane dal nostro tavolo e lo ha riciclato per un altro tavolo. Alla fine della prima portata volevo solamente andarmene e ho chiesto il conto... non mi ha nemmeno mostrato il dettaglio, voleva solo che pagassi il totale. Quando ho chiesto di vedere il dettaglio, è stato così sprezzante che mi ha fatto star male. Non è una bella immagine dell'ospitalità siciliana. Anche i servizi igienici hanno un disperato bisogno di attenzione. Per favore,...
