Cantina Senese — Restaurant in Livorno

The waiter was surly. We were seated at a table that already had bread that hadn’t been cleared away. We ordered water and wine, which didn’t come. My husband had to go to the counter twice to ask why we didn’t have anything to drink. The waitress then came to take our order, but the surly waiter had taken it. I ordered the cacciucco, my friend the baccalà and my husband (vegetarian) could only order the pasta pomodoro. The baccalà arrived with the cacciucco but the woman on the next table was given the cacciucco instead of me, even though she hadn’t finished her starter. By the time my cacciucco came out, my friend was halfway through his baccalà. Then, finally, my husband’s meagre portion of pasta came out. So we were all at different stages of eating. Disappointingly, it really was the most mediocre cacciucco I have tasted. The prawn was flat and had no meat on it. It was obviously not fresh and tasted and had the consistency of cardboard. Consumazione effettuata il 18/3/23 a pranzo ore 14:00 Veniamo accolti e fatti accomodare a ridosso del bancone principale con letteralmente 15 cm di spazio dal tavolo di fianco. Ci accomodiamo e portano il pane e basta senza bere. Arriva la cameriera, come al solito essendo più persone lei propone di fare un mix di antipasti e primi in modo tale da mangiare tutti un po' tutto. Concordiamo per il mix di antipasti e prendiamo: cozze, baccalà fritto, pesci sott'olio. Non avevamo ancora deciso i primi e la ragazza ci interrompe subito dicendo che non aveva tempo e che ripassava nel mentre che dovevamo decidere e lascia l'ordinanzione a mezzo. Da bere ci ha proposto un vino della casa, poi abbiamo preso acqua e ho chiesto se avessero ancora la coca 0 sentendomi dire " devo controllare, non lo so" alla fine questa coca 0 non sapremmo mai se c'era o no. Arrivano gli antipasti: cozze piccole, non locali (secondo me), baccalà con penso dell'aceto sul fondo, e sott'olii normali mangiabili. Poi una volta terminati gli antipasti richiamiamo la ragazza e finiamo l'ordinazione con carbonara di mare, pacchero granseola, tagliolini al polpo, cozze ripiene e paranza. Per i primi veniamo subito attaccati sentendoci dire:" non fate il mix, quindi dovrete aspettare un po' per i primi, un bel po'" alla fine 25 Min per 3 primi. Pacchero granseola: pacchero al sugo potevano chiamarlo, granseola inesistente, una chela dentro che poteva benissimo non esserci dato che non potevo neanche mangiarla. Carbonara di mare: non posso dare un giudizio perché non l'ho assaggiata Tagliolini al polpo: sapevano di vino bianco, secondo me non fatto evaporare durante la lavorazione. Dopo i primi ho chiesto per ben 3 volte i tovaglioli ai camerieri, solo l'ultimo me li ha portati, uguale per le posate. Cozze ripiene: ripiene si ma di carne, che cozze ripiene sono? poi non cozza intera attenzione ma a metà e sotto la carne. Paranza normale mangiabile anche se i pesci erano un po' rotti sul fondo. Tot: 175€ Locale: 2/5 Servizio: 1/5 perché dare 0 non posso alla fine qualche cameriere gentile c'era ma non la ragazza, maleducata e aggressiva Cibo: 2/5 Conto : 3/5 Posto che non ritorneremo mi dispiace, soprattutto sentendoci dire probabilmente dal proprietario:" siete arrivati tutti insieme, abbiamo cercato di arrangiare" Le prenotazioni se son troppe non prenderle o assumete più gente, perché chiedere ad una persona 3 volte la stessa cosa fa anche innervosire, il cliente viene tralasciato a sé. We had the famous Cacciucco. And what can I say, it was the most disgusting thing I ever ate in Italy.

I actually ordered the Fish Soup, which was supposed to be 10€. For some reason they brought this and I thought it is their interpretation of a soup. Whatever, just 10€.

It was cold and I could not identify most of it. First I was excited but everything tasted kinda off. Even the bread we were given before was hard and just not good bread. My excitement vanished after trying most of it. I ate less than half.

When we paid I realized I had no fish soup but the specialty of the region for 25€. For that money we could have had something nice, though.

I had to throw up a couple of hours later. I still felt kinda sick in my stomach the next day. Two days later I was back to normal but I remember this being the worst meal of all of italy....
