The Dock — Restaurant in Manfredonia

Dreadful food and disgraceful service, steer well clear. We went yesterday lunchtime as we were driving through the area and it looked like a lovely place- asked to share some stuffed mussels and a bottle of water, and the waiter was immediately trying to pressure us into ordering more. It's not a cheap place, appetisers start at 10€, but we had been travelling in a heatwave all day so figured we would treat ourselves to something nice, as you'd expect for those prices. The restaurant was near empty which should have been a warning, so we stuck with just what we wanted. Not even 2 minutes later a plate was dumped on the table with 5 mussels on it, 4 of which were still closed, covered in a microwaved sauce that looked and tasted like heinz soup. What they were stuffed with I couldn't tell you- I tried a bit of one and would put money on it being sawdust. The mussels were clearly not fresh, and when we complained the waiter just shrugged and walked away with our dish. There's plenty of decent places around here to eat, don't bother with this overpriced, snobby little restaurant that serves up such dreadful food.

Edited because I'm not allowed to respond to the response from the restaurant- yes we are well aware that food is not meamt to taste like dust thankyou for your concern, we've both lived in Italy for a long time and also aren't dumb and have tastebuds. And no, I'm not coming to pay my bill- I told you at the time that we weren't going to pay because we didn't eat it, because it was inedible. Hardly understood English, which let the service seem a bit rude, since the waiter wanted to finish the order for the main dish for everyone first, before he answered any questions about the food etc.

We ordered the steak, which is pork btw, and it was not really seasoned, nor was it a lot. Definitely not worth the money. Moreover the garnish for the steak seamed slapped on It was a single piece of lettuce.

The fish was alright. The green salad tho is literally that. Green leaves on a plate.

Voglio aggiornare la mia critica da negativa a ASSOLUTAMENTE POSITIVA ! lo spiacevole inconveniente è stato ampiamente riconosciuto sia dai titolari che da tutto il personale !

mi hanno chiesto continuamente scusa per il disagio causato dall'inaspettata affluenza dei clienti . Non nascondo che stavo andando via dopo le prime portate !

abbiamo tutti accettato le scuse e abbiamo apprezzato il modo in cui siamo stati coccolati fino alla nostra uscita dal locale. abbiamo ricevuto uno sconto sul totale e il sorbetto con gli amari in omaggio.

Da questo DISAGIO abbiamo potuto apprezzare la professionalità del gestore ! BRAVO ...! 10 e Lode ! così si trattano i clienti ! Ci torneremo di SICURO anche per constatare la loro buona fede !!
