Ristorante da Mamma e Papà — Restaurant in Maratea

The fragmented, topsy-turvy nature of Maratea makes it hard to pick a base or identify where most of the action takes place. We chose Ristorante da Mamma e Papa, simply because it was within walking distance (footpaths not included...).

It was a very happy accident then to encounter a family run restaurant managed by Fabio, a chef with a real passion for Basilicata and its food. Stretching from the mountains to the sea means Basilicata has a great variety of produce, and Fabio like to showcase that. He's deferential to that tradition but not afraid to try something new.

We had a fantastic antipasti of Lucanian cheeses and charcuterie, but he embellished that with fresh figs and two fig sauces and preserves he concocted from their own garden. The mains were equally impressive and both primi and secondi had a good variety of seafood and more rustic options. It was great to spend time with someone so invested and proud of the area, and we hope to see the restaurant continue to prosper...

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante panoramico di Maratea (si vede anche il mare, consigliatissimo al tramonto) in una una serata calda di Luglio. Trovato per caso, siamo rimasti piacevolmente sorpresi dall'accoglienza, dalla location e e dalla bontà del cibo. L'atmosfera è familiare e rilassata, i proprietari Fabio, Luca e la loro splendida mamma ti fanno sentire a casa, permettendoti di trascorrere una serata piacevole e tra amici. Siamo tornati due volte in questo luogo, assaggiando salumi e formaggi (consigliatissimo il tagliere), la pasta fatta in casa da mamma Maria Teresa con verdure stagionali o con il crusco, la frittura di paranza freschissima e gli ottimi dolci fatti in casa con prodotti a km 0. Abbiamo piacevolmente chiacchierato con i proprietari, molto affabili, gentili e conoscitori del loro territorio, che ci hanno trasmesso l'amore e il rispetto per la propria terra. Hanno anche un bed&breakfast nella struttura, situato di fianco al ristoranet su un poggio fresco dove ti dimentichi i ritmi frenetici della vita e respiri aria buona....
