Taverna Antico Agnello

We dined at the Taverna Antico Agnello in October 2024. We were visiting from England and staying at Orta San Giulio. The restaurant was about 50 mins walk away and up some slightly tiring hills however, it was thoroughly worth the walk to explore Miasino. Most of the walk was by pedestrian walks and so we were rarely on the main road.

The food and atmosphere was lovely. The manager spoke good English and all the menus are in Italian and English. The food was even nicer and slightly cheaper than the restaurants on the main Plaza at Orta San Giulio. The free bread starters and bread sticks were fresh compared to the packaged breadsticks of the restaurants in Orta San Giulio.

I had the Pate Starter and the Duck Noodles. My companions had the Fish of the Day and the Lamb Chops both of which were beautifully presented and cooked. We also had desserts, Pear Sorbet and a Chocolate Mousse that were perfect in every way.

I highly recommend this restaurant even though it is a little out the way. This is not a problem if you have a car though. Walking from Orta San Giulio is a little bit tiring but I would do it again, plus on the way home it is all downhill!

Abbiamo cenato alla Taverna Antico Agnello nell'ottobre 2024. Eravamo in visita dall'Inghilterra e alloggiavamo a Orta San Giulio. Il ristorante era a circa 50 minuti a piedi e su alcune colline leggermente faticose, tuttavia, valeva davvero la pena fare una passeggiata per esplorare Miasino. La maggior parte della passeggiata era pedonale e quindi raramente eravamo sulla strada principale.

Il cibo e l'atmosfera erano incantevoli. Il direttore parla un buon inglese e tutti i menu sono in italiano e inglese. Il cibo era ancora più buono e leggermente più economico rispetto ai ristoranti sulla piazza principale di Orta San Giulio. Gli antipasti di pane e i grissini gratuiti erano freschi rispetto ai grissini confezionati dei ristoranti di Orta San Giulio.

Ho avuto il Pate Starter e i Duck Noodles. I miei compagni avevano il pesce del giorno e le costolette di agnello, entrambi presentati e cucinati magnificamente. Avevamo anche dei dessert, un sorbetto alle pere e una mousse al cioccolato che erano perfetti in ogni modo.

Consiglio vivamente questo ristorante anche se è un po' fuori mano. Questo non è un problema se hai una macchina. Camminare da Orta San Giulio è un po' faticoso ma lo rifarei, in più tornando a casa è...

Lovely, quiet evening in a charming restaurant. Our meal was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The food feels like it is made with love, and served by warm and welcoming Marialuisa. The roast duck leg with polenta and tomato sauce was over the moon, and paired with a great bottle of local Gattinara wine. If you are visiting anywhere near Lake Orta, do not miss the opportunity to dine here! Finding the location by GPS may be a little confusing, but it is located simply 10 meters from the round-about. Arrived at the restaurant 9:20pm. Online it says it’s open until 10pm. We arrive and there are more than 10 tables free. We didn’t have a reservation but we were only 3 people. We were asked to wait because we didn’t have a reservation. When the waitress returned we were told the kitchen is closed and they are not serving any more all while dishes are coming out and there are several tables that haven’t yet even been served.
