Corno d’Africa – Milan Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurant
We returned with great pleasure to Corno d’Africa in Milan and were delighted to find a wonderful new addition: a larger dining room, recently added, with a modern yet incredibly cozy design. Traditional music plays from the speakers and provides a pleasant background to the conversation. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed—perfect for fully immersing yourself in the authentic flavors of Eritrean cuisine. The menu is full of enticing dishes. after having had cabbage and chicken samosas as appetizers, we tried three exceptional plates that won us over at the very first bite:
SHEKILA TIBS: a true explosion of flavor! Carefully marinated strips of beef, then fried to perfection—crispy on the outside and incredibly tender on the inside. Served with onions, rosemary, and fresh green chili, this dish is aromatic and flavorful from the very first moment. It comes with injera, available in red or white teff versions—both with unique texture and taste, truly something special.
ZIGHINI DI DORHO: a classic of Eritrean cuisine, executed to perfection. The chicken is tender and juicy, cooked in a rich base of golden onions, garlic, fresh ginger, and the signature berbere spice mix, which gives the dish a warm and enveloping depth of flavor. Fresh tomatoes add a vibrant touch of freshness that perfectly balances the dish. Served on injera and accompanied by a delicious boiled egg.
KITCHA FITFIT SPECIALE: a real surprise! Traditional kitcha (Eritrean flatbread), roughly chopped and sautéed with seared beef, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, aromatic spices, and spiced butter. It’s served with yogurt, adding a fresh and creamy contrast. A rich, flavorful, and truly satisfying dish.
If the injera isn’t quite enough, don’t worry—just ask the kind and attentive staff for more and it will arrive in a flash.
We accompanied our meal with 2 one-liter bottles of water, 3 coffees, and 2 desserts—a sorbet and a cocoa crumble—both excellent. There were four of us, we ate abundantly, and we spent less than 20 euros per person. Truly excellent value for money.
An interesting note: the restaurant also sells injera to take away—perfect for recreating the flavors of Eritrea at home.
In summary: a fantastic experience in every way - delicious food, a welcoming and well-designed setting, and courteous, attentive service. Corno d’Africa remains one of the best Eritrean restaurants in Milan. We’ll be...
