Updated...(I still think she has the best bruschetta ever!)
Hi all - I want to share some pictures of the wonderful meal and wine tasting we joyed last night at Mariella Fratellini’s restaurant in Monte di Procida, La Taverna dei Sapori.
I lost track, but I think a six course meal, all Neapolitan themed Christmas dishes and one more tasty than the next, especially with the expertly paired wines!
If you like REALLY good food, prepared especially for you, connect with her on FB and go enjoy her kitchen and the love that comes out of it!
original post ===== We visited here this evening because we have been following her wonderful posts on FB for years and now that we have returned to Napoli we had the chance to check it out in person!
We shared the restaurant with only one other family tonight.
The food was VERY good. The bruschetta may have been the best ever! Fresh, garlicky and just a touch salty - overall perfect! The wine pairing that she recommended was excellent!
I had the orchiaetta pasta and my wife had zuppe di cozze and my son has seafood pasta. All three dishes were a hit! (My other son had risotto and it was not great - but in true fashion she didn’t charge us for it, since he didn’t eat it.)
A wonderful meal and I look forward to returning soon, especially after so...
Read moreFor dinner I had the privilege of tasting the amazing food at La Taverna dei Sapori. Mariella the owner/cook/sommelier has had her restaurant for 20 years and has made so many bellies and hearts happy, including mine. There was no menu, she asked what we like and she brought out deliciousness on the cutest plates I fell in love with. We started with a great rosé matching my outfit and a huge plate of Napolitano appetizers with her stamp on it. For the main she made me spaghetti with sea urchin that was so flavorful and smooth. I rarely find sea urchin on a menu so it was a treat to have this dish crafted with love. I told her I'm a chocolate kid so for dessert she brought out the most delicious almond chocolate cake with extra chocolate sauce. The ambiance was great and Mariella stopped by every once and a while to check on us and share some knowledge of the food and surroundings. I happy danced in my chair all night long. I haven't had many restaurateurs make me as happy as she did, so a picture for...
Read moreFood was great I dont even want to lie about that because I am an honest person. The service and the scam on the other hand was absolutely disgusting. The older man who busses the tables was extremely rude and outright creepy. Not only did that creep give me serial killer vibes but the owner took advantage of us because we are American. We know Italian prices because we were with 3 people born in the country. I always pay alot of money for food especially if its good but €700 for a tiny antipasto, 2 small pasta dishes, and a desert sampler was absolutely outrageous. We would not complain if it came with meat or seafood but it did not. The children also got charged full price. She tried to justify the price because of 4 bottles of wine (it was local wine and we looked it up it was very cheap). We would have ate her multiple times but since she tried scamming us we will never eat here agajn...
