My husband and I came here because we had read good reviews on Google and TripAdvisor but alas did not have a positive experience.
After being put in a corner and forgotten, we went to the main portion of the restaurant to get menus by ourselves after 15 minutes. Then another 20 minutes before anyone paid us any mind to take our order (after we got up again to ask to be waited on, even just to have some water!). Their mixed appetizer came after another 10 minutes and was decent but nothing special.
After an hour of being there, our main course was delivered. I had ordered a cacio e pepe and my husband the mixed grigliata meat dish. The meat was fine but the cacio e pepe was severely oversalted. It's been over an hour and my throat is still burning. I told the waitress and she tried to tell us that it was just due to the dish having pecorino cheese. I've lived in Rome for 16 years and my husband is Roman. We know what cacio e pepe is supposed to taste like. Pecorino is a strong flavor, so don't oversalt the pasta water if you're going to have a heavy hand with it. I did not finish it, of course.
I would not recommend this place. I could forgive the slow service if the food were up to snuff but unfortunately my dish was inedible. I am loathe to write negative reviews usually as it's someone's livelihood but this was just...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite spots to have lunch in Orte and it's got shaded outdoor seating which is great when it's hot. They have great vegetarian options. There's a mixed vegetarian starter that all my friends love. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love it as well. I've always had an excellent experience here with both service and food. My favorite starter is the prosciutto and melon, but Italy only uses fresh ingredients so it is seasonal. It is very important to note that at this particular restaurant, it is customary to go inside to pay your tab at the end of the meal when you're ready. I only mention this so you don't wait at the table for an hour wondering why the check...
Read moreThe greeting at the door by a miserable guy almost put us off. We arrive at 12.15 to be told lunch doesn't start until 12.30. As we turn to leave we are told we can sit and wait, that seemed reasonable. We then sit until 12.30 before even a glass of water is offered, perhaps a local law does not allow it!. The young girl who served us would benefit from some training, this could be done by the more mature woman, possibly the owner ,who was very good. The food was excellent ,we all really enjoyed what we had. We very nearly missed out due to the...
