Trattoria Da Valerio — Restaurant in Orvieto

The restaurant was almost empty: two guys in working outfit, old couple and group of 4 people. Nevertheless, we've not allowed to enter with the reason "no free tables - you have to book it":) No "reserved" signs, around 10 free tables, but no. May be it's just foreigners filter. Good for locals.

In the nearby Cafe we were served like in 5 stars restaurant: kid dropped the fork on the floor and waitress changed it immediately, also we were told to choose any place and we got all the recommendations...

Best meal you will have in Orvieto!! The food is local, authentic and DELICIOUS. Everything from the starters to the pasta and the steak were great. The ice cold beer in the frozen glass was perfect on such a hot day. Service is top notch and friendly, like you are part of the family (even though we are clearly American). If you want something traditional and not touristy, da Valerio is a must try!! Cacio e pepe, gnocchi with artichoke and sausage… you can’t go wrong! ...

Tutto eccezionale! 😁 I had the pappardelle al chinghale and it was done just right. Al dente pasta and the boar was the perfect complement. All in with a great bottle of local red (Neri dei Rossa) with a acqua mineral, espresso and tiramisou was around 30. Service was very pleasant and efficient. Outdoor seating is available as well.
