La Bergamasca — Restaurant in Osio Sotto

The restaurant doesn't seem fancy or pretending but it's really what it shows, namely genuine tasty traditional food and a great pizza in a variety of flavours and combinations. We went a couple of times and we had the opportunity to order different kind of dishes, such as the "Tagliere" , a starter with cold slices of homemade ham, bacon, salami as well as other cutlery, or the polenta (mashed corn) served with a stew of lentils, beef roast or pork sausage (called "cotechino") or other courses of Bergamo's traditional cuisine. If you love pizza instead, you can't miss "Pizza D'Arte" , a fabulous mix of unusual, yet delicious, toppings, with a naturally fermented pizza's bread...simply magical. "La Bergamasca" is closed on Wednesday but the other days is almost completely full; it might be better and safer to book in advance. Service pace is reasonable and serving crew friendly and kind. If you would then have the chance to talk with the owner, you would find an exquisite talkative host who could entertain you with nice stories of his life and career...you would definitely feel home. Price is much affordable and well due for overall quality of food and service. Just try it and then...

I'd highly recommend a visit to this very traditional restaurant if you're ever in the area. Fantastic, locally produced food; friendly, welcoming staff and a very generous owner. I can never say no to a plate of good Italian meat to start, washed down with the restaurant's own-label Val Calepio vino rosso. Osso buco, polenta and gremolata and some beautiful bread to scarpetta the gremolata - perfetto! Thankfully, I still had room for an absolutely incredible slice of vanilla cake to finish.

If you're ever in the area, give this place a try. I'll definitely be back on any future visits.

Freundliche Bedienung, gute Auswahl von Pizzas. . Wir sind hier einmal mit zwei Kindern gewesen: Es eignet sich auch für Familien (der Kinderwagen muss raus bleiben). Bio und km zero Lebensmittel.

Friendly service, good choice of Pizzas. We have been here once with two small children: it is is suited for families (the stroller has to stay outside, anyway). Bio and km zero groceries.
