Ristorante La Riva in Marina di Pisa offers a delightful dining experience, especially with its beautiful sea view that adds a serene and picturesque touch to the meal. The ambiance is relaxed yet elegant, perfect for a leisurely lunch or sunset dinner.

The food is fresh and well-prepared. We enjoyed a perfectly grilled whole fish served with a crisp salad and a side of golden fries. The tuna steak, lightly seared and seasoned just right, was another highlight—tender and full of flavor, complemented by fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes.

Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The only reason for not giving a full five stars is that while the dishes were excellent, they could benefit from a bit more creativity in presentation or flavor variety to truly stand out in the competitive coastal dining scene.

The location is great, you're right on the beach and looking over the sea. But.... The food was only at an okay level. I had tuna, but it was very thin and so didn't allow for a nice sear on the outside and rare inside. The flavour wasn't great. The other dishes, both mixed seafood, were okay, but nothing special. We'd asked for a second plate to be used as a starter between the three of us, but this was brought out with the main courses, so that meant food overload on the table and it was harder to enjoy, plus the mixed fish was a little greasy. The wine was okay, but quantity in the glasses seemed low compared to the wine going to some other tables. The guest we had with us asked for coffee and a glass of water after dinner, but no water arrived, and the server said that she'd have to buy a large bottle. Decine di gabbiani aspettano sulla Riva da cui il ristorante prende il nome. Si alzano il volo ma il vento li respinge indietro e loro si posano di nuovo per poi tentare di ripartire e tornare indietro in un loop infinito. I volatili dovrebbero essere già il marchio di qualità del ristorante. Li puoi vedere dalla finestra e la loro tenacia ti migliora il pranzo notevolmente.

La Riva è un posto storico per vari motivi.

1. Nasce come bigo-baracca dei pescatori negli anni '70 e il figlio del primo proprietario - il cortese Alvaro - è ancora dietro il bancone ad accoglierti con un sorriso;
2. E' il locale in cui mia moglie andava da bambina coi suoi genitori ed oggi ci siamo stati per il suo compleanno e quindi c'è anche tutto un bagaglio emotivo che ci sta dietro che è sempre un valore aggiunto.

E' un ristorante onesto e di qualità per le famiglie e il pranzo domenicale sul lungomare di Marina di Pisa. Uno dei camerieri è un ex-Mangiamorte di Voldemort (me ne sono accorto dal tatuaggio sul braccio) riconvertito alla ristorazione. Non si fida molto delle prenotazioni ("Voi siete quattro" - "No, siamo tre" - "Siete sicuri di non essere quattro?") ma una volta conquistata la sua stima - un po' come Severus Piton - si mette al tuo servizio come fossi Albus Silente. C'è una coppia di fratellini al tavolo accanto (uno più grande sui tre anni e uno piccolo che forse arriva all'uno). Il maggiore aiuta il piccolo a stare in piedi e fare i primi passi. Due tavoli più in là c'è un signore anziano che mangia con gusto le cozze ripiene. Ha tre dita per mano come Nightcrawler degli X-Men e questo racconta che "La Riva" accoglie anche i mutanti nonostante gli avvertimenti del Senatore Kelly.

Il cibo è buonone. Io mi sono preso i ravioli di burrata bottarga e vongole e un piatto di antipasti misti dello Chef.

In più, quando paghi, ti danno un pesce FORTUNE-TELLER che metti in mano e ti dice il futuro (è tutto vero!). Chiedetelo perché mi sa che è una cosa riservata ai clienti "speciali".
