I was shocked at how good this place was! Usually when you go to touristy places, the food is very so-so and the staff is the same...and don't even get me started on the prices. But this place delivered, and in a big way - in all categories! The man who served us (who was more than likely the owner) could not have been nicer, and even took off the seating charge for us, which really helped us out a lot that day. The food we ordered was amazing...and I will definitely go back there again if I am ever in Pizzo, just for the food. I ordered a smoked salmon panino, and my friend, upon my suggestion, ordered an insalata caprese, which she said was very good. While we were waiting to be served, I even saw the owner picking us some fresh basil for her dish. The service was outstanding, and while you might pay just as much there as you would at a nicer restaurant, I felt it was worth it for the friendliness, quality of food, and convenient location.

Located in a quiet part of the town, it's right about at the end of the street, which caters to tourists - so you're a little out of the noise and hustle of the foreigners.

When visiting Pizzo, we regularly dine out in the Chilli Pepper. It is located just off the Piazza della Republicca on Corsa San Francesco close to the retail and tourist outlets. Luciano and team are always on hand to give advice on local dishes and specialities. They serve excellent Calabrese dishes and local fish at a reasonable price. They also make great burgers and panini. Wines and beer are available. Well worth a visit and you can watch the locals and tourists making their Passagiata as you...

Ci ritorneremo...
