No need to look for other tartufo gelatos in Pizzo or anywhere in Calabria — this one is simply the best. If we come back to Pizzo, it will be one of the main reasons.

The secret? It’s made fresh to order — not pre-frozen like in many gelaterias, which often leaves the outside melting and the core rock-hard. Here, the texture is flawless: uniformly soft from edge to center, no icy chunks, just silky ice cream wrapped around a molten chocolate heart, with plenty of fresh pistachios.

We came by this place spontaneously, and were immediately welcomed by the staff in a very friendly and cozy way. The owner introduced his father to us, the oldest ice cream maker in town, and we could watch him make the famous Tartufo di Pizzo. We tried Chocolate, Strawberry and Salted Caramel ice cream, and all of them were amazing, and very creamy. We stopped here because of the high Google ratings. The staff were very friendly. Overall, I got the impression that the local community in Pizzo is a bit more cheerful than in other towns we visited in Calabria.
