A hidden gem in Poggiardo!
We had a fantastic evening at La Piazza in Poggiardo! This restaurant is undoubtedly worth the trip to this small village. The service was simply amazing, with the staff being incredibly kind, attentive, and good English speaking. They also had an English menu, even if most other guest have been Italien.
The location and ambience were truly enchanting, as we enjoyed our meal amidst the serene garden, surrounded by mandarin, lemon, and grapefruit trees. The atmosphere added an extra touch of magic to our dining experience.
The food was a delightful treat. We opted for various fish dishes, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. It was undoubtedly the best dinner we had during our Puglia trip so far.
To top it all off, they offered homemade liquor, and we were especially smitten with the fennel liquor. So much so, that we couldn't resist purchasing two bottles to take back home.
Overall, we can't recommend this beautiful place enough. La Piazza is a hidden gem that will leave you with unforgettable memories and a longing to return. If you find yourself in Poggiardo or the surrounding area, make sure to pay them a visit. You won't be...
Read moreDinner - We took grilled cuttlefish and whrimps with fava beans. Simple recipes (I do not like elaborated concoctions) well executed with fresh and tasty ingredients. The shrimps were a bit "difficult", as the fava beans taste covers a bit too much the delicate tastes of fresh shrimps. Very good desserts, both the panna cotta (excellent match with quinces) and the almond with ricotta and candied orange, recalling the more famous cannolo siciliano but with a more delicate taste. Nice service, discrete and efficient. Excellent locaation for a couple dinner, in the middle of Salento, in the central square of Poggiardo. The bills is slightly lower than the quality of the food, which is a plus. For a 3 course dinner (without wine or large fish) budget 40 Euro per person. Definitely a place...
Read moreFriendly staff! Great location and the food was awesome! The only downside is how fast everything goes. After ordering it only takes 5 minutes for the first dish to come. After finishing the starters you have about 5 minutes before the main dish comes. They could take a little more time and let their customers feel a little more relaxed. I got the feeling the staff really wanted to go home quickly. But again, the food was really really nice and not over priced. Still highly...
