Osteria San Francesco e il Lupo — Restaurant in Pontremoli

Nice food, it's a good lunch spot. Love the seafood. We booked a table and arrived on time, it took so long to be acknowledged by staff we lost the table we booked. Were finally sat half an hour after our booking, during which a waiter rolled his eyes at us and complained because we needed a table with shade, not in the sweltering glass box. We had a baby with us and requested to not be directly in the sun in advance, we must have reiterated it a dozen times. But they took so long to organise themselves and seat us, they closed off the section with an empty table we'd been asking to sit at for nearly half an hour. It wasn't too late to sit there when we arrived, but it was when they finally remembered us. Had they sat us at the time we booked, they wouldn't have had to shift things around to accommodate us. Non espongono nè menù nè prezzario,nè all'esterno nè all'interno.Sono abbastanza sicura sia obbligatorio esporre!Prima di chiedere se avessero posto,ho dovuto chiedere un menù (un po'imbarazzante, ma nei diritti del cliente) e gentilmente una cameriera è andata a cercarne uno dai tavoli. Ambiente rustico e carino, personale cortese.
2. Cucina discutibile.●Di primo abbiamo preso testaroli (eravamo venuti in zona quasi apposta). Già di per se'erano troppo mollicci rispetto a quelli che avevo provato diverse volte in passato e poi portati in 2 porzioni squilibratissime; al mio ragazzo, era toccata quella sensibilmente inferiore e quindi abbiamo dovuto "ripareggiare"noi tra i piatti. Abbiamo poi fatto l'errore di prenderli al pesto...(aggiungo foto): era 2/3 pesto e 1/3 testaroli...a me piace l'abbondanza di condimento ma il pesto è particolare e va in quantità giusta, oppure il cliente paga per avere galleggio di stomaco fino alla sera oppure il ristorante induce a sprecarlo e per deduzione, in questi casi, non deve essere pesto di qualità. Soprattutto salatissimo, cosa che ha sommerso qualsiasi eventuale aroma. Vista la zona, al titlo"pesto ligure"immaginavo qualcosa di meglio di quello che viene a me a casa quando lo arrangio col frullatore... ●Abbiamo aggiunto un secondo: tagliata di manzo. Mentre arrivava il piatto si sentiva già un profumo buono di carne buona! Infatti era buona! Unico problema, anche qui: non si pretende uno spessore da Fiorentina! Ma LA TAGLIATA deve essere una fetta di minimo 3 cm "tagliata"sottile...invece era una braciolina spessa 1,3 cm e tagliata a listarelle. Il punto di cottura magicamente rispettava la richiesta di cottura media nonostante il pochissimo spessore. Non consiglio questa trattoria...mi dispiace,...

Great value, workman's lunch. Achiove pasta, rabbit, spinach, dessert ,.coffee, wine,.water. As a vintner I really appreciated that distinctive flavour of a red wine out of a demijon (that might have been sealed with olive oil)..so genuinely and old school. I'd say it was a Grenache too (i've made single varieta grenache). Having it chilled was perfect, as those light reds easily beat a chilled...
