Ristorante Calafata — Restaurant in Porto Azzurro

One of the most unpleasant dining experiences ever had. Arrived just prior to opening (times on website) and were asked to come back later as the unfriendly waitress explained that their opening times were “around 18:30 and 19:15”...Huh? On coming back (18:45) we were ignored for at least 10 minutes before the same waitress pointed at several tables at said “choose”. Once seated our drinks order came quickly, but as the place filled, we were kept waiting for another 25 minutes before the waiter took our order. We ordered 3 starters and 4 main courses for a party of 4. On ordering a 4th salad, the waiter said: “No it’s too much”. We all looked at him questioning his remark and he repeated himself. Another huh? We all laughed it off and joked that he may think I am overweight 😆 (57 kilo 5.5). We convinced him to accept the salad order.😬 The dishes came out quite quickly, except for the only pizza ordered - a simple Margarita. The large table next to us, who arrived later than us, all got their pizzas, but half an hour later we still had nothing. On asking (again) it was brushed off as “being busy”. There were at least 10 waiters/waitresses, mostly standing bunched together at the entrance and clearly discussing, giggling at and gossiping about the foreign patrons or fussing about their own hair and appearance. Overall the meal was not bad at all, although we did have fairly simple dishes. The service however was horrendous. Quite sad as we have only encountered friendly, helpful and polite people on Elba. The food was ok. Nothing special. The wait staff is terrible. they rush around .. not offer any service just trying to get people in and out. I also really appreciated the waiter crashing into my table spilling wine, water, red pasta sauce on my grey dress and then literally just walking away without any acknowledgment. Wir hatten einen Tisch um 19:30 reserviert. Das hat sehr gut funktioniert und wir worden zum Platz geführt.

Zur Karte: Die Auswahl ist ok bis mittelmäßig. Wer Meeresfrüchte und Fisch mag ist hier perfekt. Wenn du kein Interesse an Meer hast, kann man sich lediglich zwischen einfachen Speisen wie Nudeln mit Tomatensoße, Nudeln mit Pesto, Gnocci mit Ragu (Bolognese) und nem Steak als Hauptspeise entscheiden. ( es gab noch 1-2 andere)

Ambiente: Ziemlich hübsch und man hat die Nähe zum Mehr. Jedoch fehlt mir für 5 Sterne eine bessere Beleuchtung und vielleicht mehr Grünzeug, Aber das ist vielleicht meckern auf hohem Niveau.

Mitarbeiter: Sehr genervter Eindruck auf mich. Kaum sind sie wieder weg von ihren Gästen, ziehen die ne Frsse als währen wir das Ar**loch. Natürlich gibt auch 1-2 die hin und wieder lächeln. Obwohl man sagen muss dass sie immer wieder kommen und einen Bedienen/ zur Verfügung stehen.

Essen: Grandioses Essen !! Wir hatten die Nudeln mit Krabbe, welche unfassbar gut Zubereitet war, genau wie die Nudeln mit Pesto. Das Tiramisu war ein wenig zu warm aber immernoch kalt und sehr lecker. Der cheesecake war ebenfalls perfekt.

Fazit =

Ein Top Restaurant mit fantastischem Essen. Wenn die Mitarbeiter eine etwas freundliche Stimmung ausstrahlen würden wäre mehr drinn. Kann selbstverständlich sein das das eher selten so ist, denn jeder hat mal einen schlechten Tag. Jedoch geb ich eine klare Empfehlung für das...
