Ero in cerca di una pizzeria a Porto Cesareo e dopo un giro in rete, basandomi sulle recensioni tutte abbastanza positive, anche se se sono veramente pochissime le foto caricate dagli utenti, ho deciso di cenare presso la pizzeria Scacco Matto. Ho trovato un locale carino, moderno ordinato e ben tenuto. Posti a sedere numericamente contenuti nell’unica sala che accoglie i clienti e nella quale è presente anche la postazione del pizzaiolo e il forno dove vengono cotte le pizze. Il personale è gentile e premuroso, attento ai bisogni del cliente. Le pizze vengono servite in un tempo accettabile considerato il fatto che la pizzeria effettua anche l’asporto. Nota negativa: i bicchieri avevano un cattivo odore e abbiamo chiesto alla cameriera di cambiarli; con i nuovi è andata un po’ meglio ma non del tutto. Abbiamo ordinato delle pizze, delle quali tuttavia non sono rimasto particolarmente soddisfatto. Lo stile è quello della tonda al piatto con cornicione quasi assente. L’impasto è a base di farina 00 con aggiunta di olio di semi di girasole, cosa che ho trovato alquanto inconsueta per la pizza; considerando che la napoletana non prevede l’olio nell’impasto, nei casi in cui viene usato è solitamente olio d’oliva. Comunque si tratta sempre di gusti personali. Probabilmente la Farina troppo raffinata (preferisco la tipo 0 o 1) la presenza dell’olio, la mancanza quasi totale di alveolatura e una cottura che avrei preferito un po’ più lunga per una maggiore croccantezza sono i fattori che hanno inciso nel determinare il mio giudizio. Im Restaurant bekommt man nur Pizza, die aber in Perfektion. Die Pizza ist die beste, die ich in Porto Cesareo gegessen habe – und mit eine der besten überhaupt. Die Auswahl ist gut, es gibt auch ausgefallenere Sorten und die Preise sind sehr in Ordnung. Man bekommt Bier und auch guten Flaschenwein, der nicht allzu teuer ist. Der Weisswein kommt ordentlich im Eiskühler, der Rotwein war erst etwas warm, auf Nachfrage gab es aber auch einen Kühler, mit dem man ihn auf 18 Grad bringen konnte. An der Bedienung gibt es nichts zu meckern. Alle Wünsche wurden sofort erfüllt. Englisch wurde gut verstanden und gesprochen. In der Küche arbeitet Mama, die sogar hervorragend deutsch spricht. Das Restaurant liegt etwas versteckt in zweiter Reihe. Man kann nur drinnen sitzen, es gibt dort etwa 30 Plätze. Bei Bedarf kann der Raum klimatisiert werden. Das Restaurant scheint gerade neu eröffnet zu haben. Der Gastraum sah absolut neu aus. An der Rückwand des Gastraums ist der holzbefeuerte Steinofen eingebaut, man kann dem Pizzabäcker also bei der Arbeit zusehen.
