Ex Beer Cafe — Restaurant in Rimini

Amazing food, cozy spot, and friendly staff!

First time we were here, we got what we both agreed was one of the best burgers we have tasted, and also a fantastic pizza.

The second time we went to Ex Beer cafe, we shared a rib eye steak, which is definitely one of the best steaks we have ever had. We got delicious freshly baked bread, good olive oil, and some green salad with the steak, which was all fine too.

We only have two small pieces of constructive feedback - things that are not serious enough to take it down from a 5 star review:

If you get sweaty Scandinavian guests, don't let them wait more than a few minutes when they ask for water. We were extremely thirsty and it was unpleasant to wait. We are not used to the Italy heat. 🥲

The bread in the bottom of the bread basket was dry and stale. Just fill it with that delicious freshly baked bread that was on top of it, and throw the stale bread out, or use for croutons or something.

Due to the great experiences at this restaurant I complimented the food, and tipped both times. The person who took the payment (I think maybe one of the restaurant owners) was clearly genuinely grateful and happy for the compliment and modest tips. This is also part of making a restaurant experience great, instead of just good. We did not just leave the place with bellies full of good food, but also feeling happy from the friendliness of the staff.

Next time we visit Rimini, Ex Beer cafe will definitely be the first place we visit to quench our thirst and...

Enttäuschendes Erlebnis trotz freundlichem Auftakt

Wir waren mit unserer Familie (zwei kleine Kinder, 3 und 5 Jahre alt) in diesem Restaurant essen. Zunächst war der Eindruck positiv: Gleich nach dem Ankommen wurden wir von zwei bis drei Kellnern freundlich empfangen. Es wurde sofort der Tisch gedeckt, Gläser gebracht und Besteck ausgelegt – sogar für die Kinder wurde Coperto verrechnet, obwohl wir für sie einen Hamburger in halbe bestellet haben (Hauptsache sie kassieren die 2.60.- Coperto pro Person ). Es ging scheinbar alles sehr schnell, was den Eindruck vermittelte, dass auch das Essen zügig kommen würde.

Doch leider kam alles anders. Wir mussten zwischen 40 und 60 Minuten auf unser Essen warten – und das mit kleinen Kindern, was besonders anstrengend war. Das Restaurant war dabei nicht einmal voll, es war ein ganz normaler Montagabend ohne großen Andrang.

Unsere Bestellung war sehr einfach: zwei Hamburger Clásico, ein Hamburger Smash (der leider sehr klein war), Spaghetti und ein grilliertes Sirloin-Steak. Das Steak kam bereits in Stücke geschnitten – ganz anders, als man es normalerweise serviert bekommt, als wahre es nicht vom ein Stück sonder kleine Fleischstücke. Alles in allem war das Essen nicht besonders, und die lange Wartezeit machte das Erlebnis zusätzlich enttäuschend.

Zum Schluss gab es zwar eine Entschuldigung vom Service mit dem Hinweis, man probiere gerade einen neuen Koch aus – aber das war eher eine Ausrede als ein echter Trost. Fünf kleine Schokoladen als Entschuldigung reichten leider auch nicht aus, um den Ärger zu dämpfen. Aufgrund der Verzögerung haben wir leider sogar den Sonnenuntergang beim Riesenrad verpasst.

Fazit: Freundlicher Service allein reicht leider nicht aus. Die lange Wartezeit, die mittelmäßige Qualität des Essens und das insgesamt enttäuschende Erlebnis trüben unseren Eindruck stark. Wir würden daher vorerst nicht...
