I don’t give 5 stars lightly, but Ristorante Il Portolano absolutely earned every single one. I visited twice during my trip to Sardinia—and yes, that’s because I had to go back for more of their food. The first time was unforgettable; the second? Even better.
From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us like family—warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. No pushy upselling, just sincere hospitality that made us feel right at home. And the food? Pure magic. Every dish tasted like it was crafted with love, fresh local ingredients, and generations of tradition. The seafood was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, the pasta was al dente heaven, and the homemade desserts? I still dream about them.
But let’s talk about the view—oh my goodness, the view. Perched right over the water, watching the sun dip below the horizon while sipping local wine and savoring each bite… it wasn’t just dinner. It was a soul-stirring experience.
I’ve eaten at dozens of restaurants across Italy, but Il Portolano stands out as one of the very best. If you’re in Sardinia, do yourself a favor: book a table here. Go once, and you’ll be back—just like me. I’m already planning my next trip just so I can return. Nonna would...
Read moreWe really had high hopes regarding this restaurant hence being once back in 2020 a Michelin starred one but unfortunately it was a complete failure for us.We called on Tuesday to book for the upcoming Saturday and they completely misplaced our reservation. It was not fully booked, mid May being not yet full season in Sardegna. We had a table on terrace with sea view, lovely indeed but the food was not acceptable at all. We had shrimps for starters and tagliolini with pesto sauce and pistacchio, both have been OK! But the main corse, slow cooked amberjack with broccoli and apple chutney + some vinegar sauce have been really awful and it costs 32Euro which is way too much for such a disappointing dish.We had whole grain pasta with limone confit, almond flakes and asparagus which we didn’t finish because we just couldn’t. Having travelled the world, one thinks Michelin starred restaurant should do more when asking 20/30 plus Euros for a dish which doesn’t taste right and isn’t...
Read moreMy wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Ristorante Il Portolano, and it was an unforgettable experience. Located on the edge of the sea, the restaurant offers stunning views of the water and a beautiful mountain backdrop.
Claudia, the restaurant owner, was exceptionally kind and accommodating. Despite our mix-up with the reservation time, she graciously held our table for an hour until we arrived. Her warmth and hospitality made our special evening even more memorable.
Claudia recommended a spectacular Vermentino that we couldn't find at any other restaurant in Porto Cervo. The pasta with leeks and crab was a revelation – unlike anything we had ever tried before. The grilled fish was cooked to perfection.
We are happy that we chose Ristorante Il Portolano for our anniversary dinner. It was the best meal we had during our entire trip to Sardinia, and we can't wait to return on our next visit to the island.
Thank you, Claudia, for making our...
