Bar Pasticceria La Terrazza — Restaurant in Rome

Bad experience this morning at this place. I highly suspect that they try to rob tourists when they can. I did ask for a doppio espresso (is doppio espresso italian or what?) AND a large caffe latte with 2 croissants. The bill is 5 euros and 80 cents. So far so good. But as the barrista does the latte and I ask for the espresso they tell me that I need to pay more. I paid one euro more as the expected delta between the double espresso and the latte to be told that I will not get my espresso. Bottom line - as experienced in Roma this year you'd rather be extra careful about what you order and what you are paying for. And please don't tell me that Italians don't speak english. They do speak and english quite well. They happen to mysteriously forget their english when there is...

Abbiamo fatto colazione oggi io e il mio compagno. Dopo abbiamo preso un vassoio di pasticcini. Prezzi alti per la zona soprattutto per i mignon .. di media qualità. La ragazza che ci ha servito molto cortese era sola a fare cassa e vassoi e ha dovuto chiedere una mano 3 volte prima che qualcuno si affacciasse a darle una mano. I ragazzi al banco bar erano in 3 a cazzaggiare e quando il mio compagno ha chiesto se cortesemente gli poteva tagliare la sfogliatella a metà ha risposto che il suo coltello era sporco di maionese in quanto ci taglia i tramezzini. Noi siamo del settore non abbiamo detto nulla .. ma che risposta è? Allora impossibile che quel coltello non venga lavato tutto il giorno.. oppure il ragazzo non aveva voglia? Eravamo solo noi al banco in quel momento e il tempo di lavare un coltello si trova. Con i 23 euro spesi era una cortesia minima che se lavori in un bar si fa .. altrimenti...

A little gem of a place not far from the motorway. The pastries, croissants and cappuccinos are superior to anywhere else, freshly baked as you take them, staff is very friendly, nothing is too much, you can breathe the genuine Italian life at the bar in the morning. Loved...
