I don't feel I got my money's worth on this meal. We were 4 people and ordered 2 entries, 4 risottos, 2 waters and 2 desserts for a total of 120 euros. The food was not "exploding with flavor" nor it felt like it had "subtle complexities in its ingredients" it felt just a bit above bland. Now this could just be that I don't have the palate for this type of food or but I've gotten seafood in other places and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ciardó, I know you are going to respond or at least see this, I don't know what are your operating costs and if that drives the amount or food that was on plate, which to your point, you said was small, I feel like it was reaching adequate, but the flavor just wasn't there and the proportions of fish to rice seafood of the risotto didn't seem adequate. I think in summary I'd say that the plates don't match the presentation (which was very good) with the flavors and maybe the amount of seafood In the plate ups the cost of it driving the price up for not such a good experience at the end. I just feel that given the location (which that one was not so great, not the restaurant itself, that was ok but rather the surroundings) and the money we paid, there is really no excuse nor you can afford that the foods feels less than excellent, and this felt normal at best. You can't charge premium prices for an average experience.
Ciardó, as a business owner to another, I understand why you respond to everyone, I understand you might get frustrated and exhausted defending your business, but some things have to change, the experience has to be better.
Our experiences in many other restaurants around Italy have been that we have paid half of the money that we paid here, but including drinks and wine, and had a better overall experience.
Maybe this is all a matter of perspective and 120 euros for four people is not a lot of money and if that's the case then I'd say that any tourist that comes from a country in which the exchange rate of their currency is less than favorable against the euro should...
Read moreItaly has been our vacation destination for me and my husband for many years now. We were looking for a nice lunch place on the way to Salerno and saw this place.
YOU HAVE TO EAT THE TASTING MENU- the freshest fish, caught daily. Every single dish is very though through with absolutely amazing flavor. Tha place is belongs to son and mom (I think), and you can feel the love through food. The portion size for tastings was perfect, as you did not feel too full but only happy. My absolute favorite was the fish with potatoes, I just want to eat for the rest of my life. Extremely fresh octopus.
The smile of the owner made our visit spectacular- very attentive and you can just see how much they love this place. The music so perfect, design of the restaurant is what I want to see when coming to Italy.
Also, bread- so perfect. We have been traveling for couple days and only now got lucky to eat some real good bread.
And the place is opened on Monday which was a lifesaver as we were so hungry. Make sure to visit please.
The tasting menu is around 35 euros and I saw some people complain about it but you need to understand that you are ordering 5 different dishes and have an opportunity to taste them all- that is the beauty of tasting not being set for only one meal. You get the best of the best in different dishes. I loved the dessert too- excellent presentation, I have never seen anything like that and tasted better than any gelato in Milan.
Will definitely return here next year. Thank you owners for creating such magical place.
