Baita Seceda is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you’ve left. Perched high above Val Gardena, it offers some of the most stunning views in the Dolomites — a perfect panorama of the Seceda ridgeline and surrounding peaks.
The food is everything you could hope for after a day of hiking or skiing: local, comforting, and made with care. The cheese fondue, pasta, steak and Kaiserschmarrn were all excellent. You can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the traditional South Tyrolean flavors come through in every bite. Not to mention that absolutely everything, including the bread, is made in their kitchen with local ingredients.
What really made the experience special, though, was the hospitality — especially from Dani. He has a gift for making every guest feel like they’re right at home. Warm, funny, and always attentive, Dani brings an extra touch of heart to an already magical setting. From the very first visit, he remembered our names, joked with us like old friends, and made sure we were comfortable from start to finish. It’s rare to feel that welcome in such a busy spot, and it truly made our visit unforgettable.
Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, a drink with a view, or just to soak in the atmosphere, Baita Seceda is a must-visit in the Dolomites. It’s more than just a mountain hut — it’s a place...
Read moreIt’s the highest restaurant with panoramic views of the cliffs and everything in and around seceda and ortisei. You’re literally sitting IN THE CLOUDS with happy people on vacation. The servers were cray busy and you’ll have to flag them down but once your order was in, it was fine. Food took about 10-15min. Drinks were typical…carbonara and gnocchi were amazingly flavored and on point. Pomodoro was meh. Each dish was about 13-18euros but they take cash and credit cards. The only major issue with this place is the WC (bathrooms) there were about 5-6 stalls only, one flight of stairs down, which is by the entrance of the 🚠 gondolas coming up and down, so it was more of a rest area feel in the WC with tissues strewn everywhere, soap needing to be refilled, no changing tables if you have an infant, but there were plenty of tables, chairs, areas to lounge indoors and out. You will love the memories you make here and the pics you take. Def stop here before you start your hikes or stop as you leave. We had 11 in our party and it was perfect for our summer vacation visit during our few days in Ortisei. See pic...
Read moreLocated at 2,500 meters above sea level at the top station of the Seceda cable car above Ortisei, this mountain restaurant offers stunning views—especially from the terrace and the tables near the glass wall. The place is decently staffed, so service is fairly quick, although it’s not particularly refined, which is to be expected for an alpine eatery.
The menu includes a range of pasta dishes and Tyrolean specialties. I had the tagliatelle with deer ragù. The sauce was decent, and there was plenty of meat—good for those with a big appetite—but the quality varied, with some tougher cuts and a few pieces containing tendons. At €33 for a plate of pasta and a cappuccino, it’s on the expensive side.
This place is worth it if you’re already at the top and want to enjoy the view over lunch. Otherwise, it might be better to bring a picnic, eat before heading up, or wait until you’re back down—likely more economical and...
