I recently visited the Seceda Ridgeline in Val Gardena and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The ridge is a surreal blend of jagged cliffs on one side and rolling alpine meadows on the other — it literally feels like standing on the edge of the world. The iconic “rabbit ears” peaks of Pieralongia and the sweeping views of the Odle/Sassolungo massifs were simply mesmerizing.

Access is both easy and flexible. We took the two-part cable car from Ortisei — an effortless 15–20 minute ride with stunning panoramas — then enjoyed the easy loop trail along the ridgeline. If you prefer a challenge, there are longer hikes from Ortisei or Col Raiser (up to 17 km) with ~1 200 m elevation gain — doable, but definitely for those with stamina .

The best time to go is mid-June to mid-September, when the trails are snow-free and all cable cars are running.

There are charming mountain huts along the way that are must-stops for a refreshing drink or snack amid magnificent views.

In short: easily one of the top scenic hikes in the Dolomites — accessible, awe‑inspiring, and unforgettable. Whether you’re after a mellow walk or an all-day adventure, Seceda delivers. Highly...

Amazing landscape that truely lived up to and beyond expectations.

HOWEVER, there is a turnstyle at the top photospot asking for 5 euro per person to walk another 100 metres to another viewpoint. Mountains should be free to roam and it is a disgusting act of capitalism to charge more to simply walk further along a ridge. What's even more ridiculous is that if you simply turn back and take the lower trail, and then walk up the incline path you can access the same area and Ridgeline walk with no signs or charge. They don't tell you this at the top of course.

The land management company should be ashamed of...

This was without doubt one of the highlights of our trip to the Dolomites. My husband and I skipped the Gondola and hiked from Col Raiser carpark up to seceda ridgeline, stopping at a restaurant at 2500m to have Carbonara and then proceeded to the ridgeline for some of the most spectacular views we could have asked for!

Toilets are easily accessible at gondolas along with restaurants etc. Trail easy to find.

Loved it, recommend!

Also col raiser carpark only charged us 7euro...
