The food is average and was not nearly as good as the other refugios/huts in the area. I experienced a little bit of rudeness and prejudice at this business. Specifically, I noticed how the few employees (male waiter who took our food orders and male working at the bar) treated tourist who were white Italian vs. Asian folks. At first, I noticed I was often finding myself treated rudely (didn’t receive water, or greeted or given a smile) like other guests. When I wanted a menu, I was repeatedly dismissed and wasn’t ever given one after asking 3 times. I know it wasn’t a language issue since English is my primary spoken language. When I asked for water, I was again dismissed and told to go to the bar where another man just yelled ‘Table’ at my face for no reason when I asked for water. Usually if I’m interacting with customers, I would try to ask “how can I help you?” and move from there by not yelling and dictating orders to paying customers. Bothered by this, a few moments later, I noticed patrons who were white were received very differently. I found it a little odd, but as I continued to watch and observe our waiter and saw how he was treating another table of Asian tourists being treated poorly as well similarly to how I was being treated. It is hard to not connect the dots that there’s some racial bias (towards Asians) occurring at this establishment. I wanted to post to let all my Asian people know to not eat here unless you have to. I recommend buying snacks/sandwiches somewhere else. Simply put, the two workers I interfaced with were way more patient with white clienteles than Asian ones. The unavoidable location is beautiful because the views are nice and tempting but the staff is incredibly rude. I strongly recommend not supporting businesses who don’t respect Asian folks. For many people going to the Dolomites, this is a once in a lifetime trip and it is really distasteful to ruin someone else’s day due to their ethnicity or race or cultural background. I really hope they learn...
Read moreWhen orders are taken even from people sitting on the grass because there's demand, here's what happens. We placed our order at the table we were sitting at. After 20 minutes, the waiter comes and says the dish we wanted is no longer available. So I say, "I'd like this instead," and we also have another dish that we had ordered. We have two meals on the way. After 40 minutes, the first dish arrives—a pasta, completely dry. It's as if they put it in a fruit dehydrator, sucked all the moisture and sauce out, and then served it to me. Meanwhile, our second dish is still missing. Despite our insistence, it doesn’t arrive in 20 minutes, it doesn’t arrive in 40 minutes. "It’s coming soon, it’s coming soon," they keep saying. We're being delayed and stalled. The time since we placed the order is now over an hour. But there's still no sign of the salad. The waiter, to his credit, is doing his best, or at least pretending to, but it seems these issues stem from...
Read moreOn the way from Seceda to Col Raiser or just if you're hungry and happen to be around - Sofie Hütte is your place to be. First of all, everything what we tried, was good - strudel, tiramisu and caffe corretto. Prices - well, prices are higher than down there, but you can't blame it. Moreover, it was really tasty and worth of money.
Service is outstanding as well as toilet. Believe me, you'll want to take insta or contacts of the guys working there. Toilet is nothing very special, but it's quite big, clean and with awesome design and attention to details.
The only thing that can a bit disappoint is a crowd and atmosphere, because it's mostly tourists who already paid to get there up, so don't expect it to be vibing and cool, though staff really does their best to make atmosphere there welcoming and warm.
If by some reason I'm coming again there, 2500+ meters up and the several hundred down - I'm definitely coming...
