Ristorante Le 4 stagioni di Casa Sassone — Restaurant in Saluzzo

The food is good quality and it is not an expensive place. They have a nice terrace where you can sit outside and the interiour is nicely decorated. I have a few gripes, though. My wife and i reserved a table for the garden. When we arrived, we were placed inside, where there was also a large group present. When i commented on this, we were, without any protest, escorted to the garden, where there was still several tables for a couple empty, so there was no need to place us inside. Somfor me, they dropped a point there. The manager/owner of the restaurant obviously liked to animate his guests, and entertained some of the tables where larger groups were sitting (5+ people). Unfortunately, all the other tables didn’t receive any attention from the waiters, apart from bringing the food. There are a lot of beautiful restaurants with good food in the region, but the quality of the service is what makes me want to come back to a specific restaurant. Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante-pizzeria un venerdì sera. La sala particolarmente gremita è stata, forse, la causa delle lunghe attese. Il locale presenta, oltre ai numerosissimi coperti (forse troppi), una cucina a vista. Come detto, si tratta di un ristorante-pizzeria, le aspettative in questi casi non sono mai troppo alte, eppure l'antipasto era anche riuscito a sorprendermi. Ho scelto il tentacolo di polpo, proposta dello chef. La cottura perfetta, l'accompagnamento di salse dal sapore intenso ma non coprente, persino l'impiattamento è interessante, forse solo quella mozzarella mi è sembrata un po' casuale, utilizzata come riempitivo. La brutta, bruttissima sorpresa è arrivata con il primo. Ho optato per i paccheri allo scoglio. Passi il gambero, non amo ritrovarmi crostacei interi, non puliti, ma per molti sembra usanza. Però trovo inaccettabile in qualsiasi ristorante, osteria, trattoria, pizzeria o qualsiasi locale di ristorazione questi esempi di pigrizia e di poco interesse per il lavoro e mancanza totale di rispetto per il cliente e per l'ingrediente stesso. Ho trovato sabbia nelle cozze e nelle vongole, i bivalvi sporchi e calcarei esternamente, alcuni addirittura rotti con pezzi di conchiglia che si infilano all'interno dei paccheri stessi attentando alla mia dentatura. I moscardini interi, ancora con occhi e becco, ho dovuto pulirli io con forchetta e coltello improvvisandomi chirurgo fra i commensali. Tutto questo non può che essere dimostrazione di totale negligenza, che mi fa passare la fame e la voglia di tornare. Un peccato. L'ampia scelta di vini, l'attenzione particolare agli oli mi avevano fatto ben sperare. Le persone al mio tavolo hanno lamentato pizze poco sapide mal cotte, io ho preferito non assaggiarle quindi lascio la mia riserva. Difficile parlare di prezzo equo, se consideriamo il lavoro fatto avrei preferito pagare meno. Il personale è estremamente freddo, fa il suo lavoro senza infamia e senza lode.

Today marks the last day of our Alba trip, and we decided to explore a nearby town. Following Google Maps, we arrived at the charming and beautiful town of Saluzzo. Initially, we thought it was an overlooked, forgotten place lost in the river of history. However, as we happened to pass by and step into this restaurant, it felt like we had traveled through time and entered another world. Here, at half the price of Paris, we enjoyed top-tier pizza, the most delicious Italian dishes, and exceptional wines from both Italy and around the globe.
