Ristorante Il Grottino — Restaurant in San Felice Circeo

I've eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years during different seasons. I had one of my best meals in Italy here last summer with excellent caprese, fresh fish and excellent sides and wine. Fast forward a few months to April 2018 and there's been a slight drop in quality. The caprese I remember with fresh tomatoes and amazing mozarella di bufula was simply refrigerated mozarella and maybe store bought cherry tomatoes. The fish was still good but the sides were a bit lackluster than I remembered. I believe that since San Felice Circeo is a beach town, it truly comes alive in the warmer months. Perhaps the same care and fresh ingredients aren't readily available. Who knows. Very fond memories of eating here before but coming in non summer months is a different experience. The service is always the highlight with very friendly staff, fast and attentive. Excellent location...

The food was good but we had to wait for 1 hour to get our table, the waiters didn‘t speak a word in english (never learned or heard of another language than italian) and we waited long fir our food - 2 of our friends left because they were totaly ignored by the waiters - even when brining the dishes the waiters made terrible mistakes .. it was just a chaos, the service was horroble!! In un piccolo centro nel cuore del Parco del Circeo su di una stretta piazzetta a due passi dal belvedere, nasce questo "piccolo" locale dove la cordialità e l'attenzione per il cliente è all'ordine del giorno. Arrivati in pieno agosto 2020, senza prenotazione, i camerieri stoici con le mascherine sul naso, un po' ruspanti, ci sistemano in un tavolino distanziato secondo norme covid all'aperto&distanziati e dato il tempo di scegliere, prendono la nostra ordinazione. Tutto molto rapido e nonostante pietanze diverse, servono in contemporanea per poter gustare tutto assieme al mio commensale, gustando tutto su tovaglie di stoffa, stoviglie lucide e chiuse all'interno di tovaglioli in stoffa a loro volta chiuse in carta per evitare il contatto, tutto senza chiedere coperto e pane sempre presente. Paccheri allo scoglio davvero ottimi, pesce fresco e gustoso il piatto, piccola pecca sulla frittura, un po' "molliccia" e "risicata" nella porzione, ma gustabile. Un appunto sul vino bianco, una falanghina servita calda, a cui hanno immediatamente posto rimedio con un suaglass e ghiaccio, pochi minuti et voilà. Pagamento tramite Pos, senza indugi.
