This is a fantastic historic hotel located in a smaller town between the towns of Lucca and Pisa. Lucca is 90 k, Pisa is > 100 K. San Guiliano Terme is a quiet little town that sleeps on Sunday and Monday, but came alive Tuesday with an active farmer’s market and local activity. Nestled between two bigger cities it offers a refreshing reprieve from the hustle and bustle. You simply wouldn’t think there would be such a beautiful hotel in this small town . Replete with beautiful pools and thermal spas, my wife and I enjoyed the amenities which included a comfortable and rejuvenating massage, ( 50 min 108 euros), and a beautiful nature walk outside. I used their modest gym once or twice and it served my purpose nicely. The town is 100% safe and the people are extremely respectful . The hotel was meticulously clean with large rooms and a touch of luxury, including well appointed bathrooms . It was explained that it served as a palace to a very rich Italian, whose name escapes me. From the house cleaners to the maintenance guy to the extremely helpful front desk the staff was A+. The Bell guy even arranged a BARBER for me in PISA where I received an extraordinário haircut and beard alinhamento!!! Great guy !! A few tips: The drying rods in the bathrooms are controlled by the front desk,( unsure why), só just call to turn on. Watch for not falling as water can get onto the floors easily with the way the luxurious glass shower doors are configured. Love the substantially designed faucets ! I believe they also offer a Courtesy Car, on site. Ask to confirm. Reserve the dinner to expedite. Make time to enjoy all the sensational Pools. A convenient goody bag with slippers, robe and hair cap is supplied!!! So nice ! Loved coming here in March…. No crowds… Temps between 50-62… lite jacket weather Heated pools…. No problem Food/ dining: If you want a Michelin type experience, dine in the evening or have a breakfast in the morning and you won’t regret it. For us , breakfast was included. The breakfast portfolio is very large and there are many choices of meats, cheese, fresh breads, and piping hot cofees. They even made me an omelette one morning, which was carefully prepared and very rich. Extensive array of juices and pastries/ croissants. This morning we were very fortunate to be presented with another amazing option of an organic honey palette, which was totally unexpected and never having seen it before very authentic. The waiter stated it came from a local farm near Pisa . Overall this added to what was already the very Best Italian breakfast we have had, yet. The wait staff at dinner couldn’t be better -waiting on us hand and foot in an extremely professional manner with beautiful music playing in the background. We had dinner twice there and I would say both experiences were 4 1/2 stars if not, five. Seabass, wild boat meat and Gnocchi are honorable mentions. I’ll show a picture of the wine I ordered which was an Italian beauty- not too dry and prepared in age oak barrels. The bar was quiet and serene with a piano. Don Julio meet and the BLUE SKY were thoroughly enjoyed, before dinner. I wasn’t shy on tipping these guys, they deserved it. Book here and pamper yourself, while enjoying luxury.

We used “Night at the Spa” package that includes aperitif (finger food and drinks), visit to 5 pools and 2 saunas (dry and steam) , bathrobes, towels and slippers, and background music. They oversold the entry passes it seemed as the place was crowded as sardines! There was no place to change, not enough lockers, i had to change in the toilet and jam my things into a small 30x30 locker in the corridor where people were walking through and no privacy! I didn’t not appreciate it, for 58€ one can get better organized, imho. There was enough food and drink and they also served 2 types of hot pasta and Prosecco wine 🥂🍾. Pools were quite crowded, most in-pool jets for hydro massages didn’t work. There was a [Russian] family with children (normally at many spas kids are not allowed in the evening hours!) and they were a bit disturbing us, taking photos in the pool and acting like they owed the place. Everybody at the pools were rolling eyes and looking at them in disbelief. Administration should have told them to behave themselves, honestly. None of the pools has got a ramp for wheelchair access. Two parts of the spa are in opposite ends of the building connected by stairs to go up and down. I haven’t spotted an elevator either. On the bright side, the spa is in a beautiful setting, gorgeous architectural structure, it’s very clean. You just need to avoid holidays time to escape annoying crowds.

Please remember the following issues with the hotel: I understand that the property is old and has a musty smell, and it is not clean. The pictures online did not accurately reflect the actual condition of the hotel. Our experience was very poor, and I would NOT recommend this three-star hotel to anyone  I'm not sure how it received this 5 star rating. Anyone can enter the rooms from outside the hotel without being noticed, and the parking area is open for anyone to come in and park their car then I consider the hotel is not secure. The smell in the bathrooms is unbearable and prevents sleep as shown in pictures how the green fungus all around the pop-up of the wash basin. The door in my kid's room was difficult to lock and unlock. The bathroom smell needs to be addressed. The cooling system is not functioning properly, and the temperature cannot be adjusted. It may appear that you can change the settings but in reality, it is not, No coffee machine in the room.before moving your back to the room make sure you see it first to check

Not what looks like by (most of) the reviews… The hotel and the terme are not well maintained.

There's no security for entrance/parking. Everyone can enter the hotel building using the side doors.

The hotel and Terme are located in a big and old construction and the lack of signage/maps on the corridors makes you lose some time trying to find yourself.

The restaurant experience was zero. Food control zero. It was Sunday, buffet style. There’s no description of what each plate was, allergenics, nothing. The staff in charge of making your plate does not properly use the face mask, or any gloves. Half of the food was exposed to the sun, with no covers or temperature control (all dishes I asked for were completely cold). The entree/salad and desserts tables were completely exposed, no ice to control temperature, no covers or divisions…Even the bread basket on the table was saved, they were hard as if they had been there since the day before. The staff clearly are not trained to work in a restaurant.

The spa center is not fumigated! In the Ponente inside pool there’s lots of ant trails going inside/ outside the walls around the pool (probably no one checks that because the only way to reach the walls is entering the pool). The condition of the tiles and rust is horrible. It lacks an adequate ventilation system, and some basic cleaning.

On the Levante pools there are no hangers for your towels, and one of the two cabins does not have a shower. The two small rooms with 2 secondary pools are very badly illuminated, more than half of the lights in the pool and the water jets inside are broken, and the floor was very greasy.

The sound system does not work! I didn’t have music during the massage or during the other treatment I did with my boyfriend. I think for the 5 stars I saw on the sign outside the hotel, music is a minimum requirement, right?

Fortunately I had a good massage with Rossella, very professional and kind, but I would say it is a lottery. My boyfriend paid for the same treatments and was nothing like mine, very disappointed.

I could recommend the pools, which in fact are nice, but as I said above, it needs more maintenance to deserve these 5...

This was my first holiday this year and I decided to stay at Bagni di Pisa for 5 nights to celebrate my birthday and for a relaxing holiday in a very quiet and tranquil area. And quiet it is as I had very good night sleep all throughout my stay. Bed was comfortable and the Comfort double room I had was quite spacious and lovely decorated. Please bear in mind that this hotel is a typical Italian palazzo with antique furniture but this was a plus for me as it gives the hotel its unique character. |I was on half board basis. The food was always good and the food menu and wine list were quite varied also offering typical stuff from the region. WiFi was so and so. |The spa area was very good with heated indoor pools. Even the outdoor pool which was my favorite is heated. They offer also sauna and massages and I recommend their massage therapists highly especially a certain Alexandra and Caterina (if I’m not mistaken) - I felt rejuvenated, so thank you ! |Housekeeping was done twice a day and toiletries offered were of very good quality. |However even though I enjoyed my stay I have some reservations as follows:|1) This hotel is not adults only;|2)Even though the location is lovely and the hotel is situated overlooking the hills it’s quite detached from anything else albeit the train station which is situated just 8mins walk away;|3) At dinner they literally force you to take wine so you feel compelled to take wine - for a person like me who is a bit alcohol intolerant this is quite irritating; |4) Check the final bill when you checkout as you might have differences here and there- in my case there was a huge mistake but it was rectified immediately. I also noticed that prices shown here and there do not include tax- so watch out! |5) There’s no security anywhere inside or outside the building which for a huge place like this, which also caters for weddings etc, is quite unacceptable if not strange!!|All in all I enjoyed it very much and I really appreciated the lovely gift the management gave me for my birthday but somehow I felt that there was something lacking. Even though all staff were cordial and friendly I didn’t...
