Trattoria Sora Bruna — Restaurant in San Giuliano Terme

After reading pleasing reviews we decided to give this place a try,plus as we were staying at the nearby spa, choice was limited. From the onset service was terrible, tatty paper menus thrown across the table to us, took ages to offer drinks, not even water offered to begin with. Even though we were pointing at the items on the menu ( it was clear they spoke little English so we had google translated the menu to order so we were confident in our choices)it took a long time to get our order taken, the server was distracted and not really listening or even giving eye contact. This resulted in our 16 year old son getting a spritzer instead of a margarita pizza!! The waiter seemed miffed that he had gotten it wrong. We asked for a wine list, and again, it took time to get one. Then no one came for our wine order and in this time our food arrived. We were in the area and found this restaurant by chance. We had lunch there. I am happy to say that in the last ten days (we are tourists) we have dined in all kinds of restaurants and found the food in this simple restaurant to be the best and most authentic of all. They have a lunch menu for 15 euros per person. This includes a starter, a main course, water, wine and coffee. I highly recommend trying the gnocchi in Italian sauce as a starter (amazing how delicious it is) and the lemon schnitzel as a main course (very tender and tasty)... We also added a last course to the menu for 5 euros. The best tiramisu we have eaten in Italy to date, the mascarpone is also very tasty. In conclusion, a wonderful authentic restaurant located only about fifteen minutes from the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa... We paid 40 euros per couple and left smiling...

I love this place so much. Whilst staying at our annual ladies weekend at the Bagni di Pisa spa hotel, we went to dinner twice at this charming, fun restaurant. The first night was a karaoke night where we had a fab time subjecting the lovely locals to our hideous caterwauling. The second night we went they had a band playing and the band was REALLY GOOD!
