Disappointed & Confused—Not Michelin guide Worthy
Aesthetically, the restaurant is beautiful—thoughtfully designed and visually pleasing. The wine list is extensive, and the sommelier, once we finally got to speak with him, was knowledgeable and helpful. The highlight of our meal was actually the Etna wine he recommended and a trio of tartare, which, notably, required no cooking.
Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends.
For a Michelin-guide restaurant, I expected more complexity, balance, and finesse in the flavor profile & service. We ordered three couscous dishes and one pasta, all of which were completely forgettable. The caponata appetizer was just okay—nothing that stood out. At this level, “just okay” really doesn’t cut it.
The most disappointing aspect, however, was the service—confusing, inattentive, and borderline rude. I had specifically requested outdoor seating when making the reservation. Upon arrival, despite many open tables in multiple outdoor areas (street side, center courtyard, and shaded rear), the host led us to the most tucked-away shaded corner of the restaurant. When I reminded her of my request, she made a face, then reluctantly walked us past several available tables only to offer—again—another shaded, undesirable spot. I politely pointed out a few empty tables in better areas, but she refused and ultimately placed us in the farthest back part of the unshaded section. We have no idea why we were treated this way—we were on time, dressed appropriately, and polite throughout.
It only got worse. I asked our server for the sommelier shortly after being seated, but he insisted we order starters instead. A second staff member came to take our primi order, and again, I had to remind her that we hadn’t ordered starters and were still waiting on the sommelier. It took 20 minutes before he finally came by. For context, this was a Monday night at 9:45 PM—the restaurant was not even half full.
To top it off, we were told we could not pay at our table and had to walk to the cashier. What kind of Michelin-level service is that?
All in all, this was a frustrating and underwhelming experience. Between the subpar food, odd service decisions, and lack of hospitality, I won’t be returning—and I would not recommend it to...
Read moreWe decided to visit Profumi del Cous Cous as it has good opinions. Unfortunately no one speaks there English..we got wrong order..TWICE and in the end when we wanted to pay no one gave us a bill, they just treated us as we were invisible. The lady came to take the order from us. We ordered BUSIATE (SICILIAN HOMEMADE PASTA) SEA AND HILL – MARE E COLLINE x2, we even showed the lady on our phone what we wanted to eat, she didn’t even look at the phone. After like 5 mins we got bruschettas..and okay we are just human, we make mistakes but lady would have avoided it if she even had asked, which exactly bruschetta we want to eat..as I checked there are 3 different types of them in the menu. When we got the wrong order we were so confused..after some time 2 men came and asked what happened. Same situation, we showed them on our phone what we wanted to order (THERE WERE TWO WAITERS LOOKING AT THIS MENU). They didn’t write it down or anything, just read it and took our wrong order. They gave us one plate of bruschetta for free. Then waiter came, ask us again about our order so we said once again. The food came after some time and we got WRONG ORDER again. We got trapanese pesto. I didn’t wanted tell them again about their mistake, as we got bruschettas for free, and I was afraid they might think that we were doing it on purpose to get free meal. We really felt terrible and angry. The pasta was okay, but nothing much to be honest. Not worth Michelin star, as we ate so much better ones in Sicily. When we finished eating, the man took our plates and I asked for the bill. We were waiting for a bill about 15 mins, and decided to go and pay without the bill. The lady didn’t speak English, so another lady had to come and...
Read moreWe came here as it was highly recommended by a couple of people. We were fortunate to be seated in their beautiful garden room. It turns out, that was the highlight of the night. There was already bread on the table when we were seated. Was it meant to be there or was it left over from the previous people that sat there. Turns out, it’s there as part of the table set up so they don’t have to worry about it later.
We ordered 2 antipasti, 1 pasta, and one of their famous cous cous dishes
A trio of tartare was totally bland. In the middle of eating it, a server appeared and drowned the tartare with olive oil. Eggplant parm tasted bland and reheated. Both starters were on our table less than 5 minutes after we ordered them. The shrimp “scampi” pasta had a nice shrimp taste, but the shrimp were nowhere to be found. The cous cous “frito” had some tired, fried earlier calamari and a couple of fried shrimp on the plate. We took a taste and left the entire plate there. The pasta and cous cous were on the table Almost as soon as the antipasti was taken away.
This restaurant is one of mass production and a ton of very quickly moving wait staff, who job it is, it seems, is to turn the tables as quickly as possible. I was banged into by hustling wait staff three times with it even being acknowledged.
Shockingly this was easily the worst meal we’ve had here in Sicily and also the fastest dinner- in and out in an hour and 10 minutes. And no one cared. There are a bunch of wonderful restaurants here in San Vito, this obviously isn’t one...
